In 2000, Florida was exactly 50% Red, 50% Blue. With so many Latinos, how did it turn so Red?

Trump wants to round up undocumented immigrants (and a lot of those are Latino); you'd think that would make a LOT of Latino voters vote BLUE.

It really is interesting how red Florida has become over the last 24 years.

Is Florida red because of at least 2 factors?

* Latinos tend to be Catholic and opposed to abortion.

* Those with Cuban ancestry think of Castro and socialism/communism when they think of Democrats.

It would be more accurate to say that Trump Country invaded Florida. Millions of Trumpers have moved here in recent years and brought their MAGA politics with them. The Villages barely existed in 2000. Now it's the fastest growing metro in the US.

SW Florida is FULL of retired more affluent Midwesterners who tend to be more conservative too. They’ve been filling the place up these last several years.
The area from Fernandina Beach down through Palm Coast is also full of retired Northeasterners. Palm Coast (Flagler County) is solidly full of retired NYC and Long Island cops and firemen. Union pensions give the place a solid economy, The Villages have more fixed income types from all over but you should see the Catholic Church there. The Vatican is jealous.
The Panhandle is dominated by retired and active military. You know they’re conservative.
Miami Dade has Cuban Americans who are very entrepreneurial and trend more conservative. Only Miami Beach and Orlando are more
Moderate, and Broward County (Ft. Lauderdale) is just a strange mish mash.

It’s a pretty simple answer. Florida is the fastest growing state year over year, and it’s mostly conservatives leaving blue states with shitty liberal policies.

I literally know 16 people from Eastern Iowa who now live in Ft. Myers. It's crazy and they say they know several others from E. Iowa down there as well.
