In addition to Jirak ....

How many 2025 recruits will Ben take?
All a guess. I think when we had the Drake commits and koch he said he wanted 4-5 more transfers.

That would of been 6 players total. Getting us up to 10-11 players. Supposedly tate the recruit he had sign to drake is a done deal.

Thats gets us to 12-13 with jirak and tate. I think it does depend on what iowa women do. I believe they have to have the same # of scholarship players.

We could have 3-4 recruits(jirak, tate and..). Hopefully nyk lewis is one of them.

Do we have any players taller than 6’8 that are ready to contribute next year? The only thing I’ve seen so far is the kid we flipped from UNI, who I assume is more of a project and not ready for significant minutes yet. Am I missing anyone?

Nope. 6’8 is the tallest.

If they didn’t have about six more spots to fill out, I might have an ounce of concern about it.

Just to clarify: That’s a Fan Futurecast, which means it was entered by a random person with a Rivals subscription, not an employee of Rivals.
I don't follow recruiting like you do and I am not worried about how this roster gets filled out. I do have a question for you- Have you followed where BMcC is at for the 2026 class, or is that even a thing yet?

It is a bit convoluted. They are showing both Ben's offers and some of Fran's offers. It will need to flush out over time.

The only ones I can comment on so far are

PG - Navon Shabazz (Committed)
SF - Jaidyn Coon (Storm Lake)
SF - Colin Rice (Waukee NW)
PF - Gallagher Placide (Sunrise Christian, KS)
PF - Gavin Placide(Sunrise Christian, KS)

Cedric Tomes is a point guard from Minnesota that I know the staff was recruiting when they were at Drake. It will be interesting to see if he gets an Iowa offer soon.

I’ll see what else I can dig up,

What happened to the kid from Rice?

We don't actually have to align exactly the same number of MBB and WBB scholarships, I don't think, do we? As long as overall scholarship numbers between men and women in a total of all the sports is within the approved range - right?

Correct. It has nothing to do with how many Jan has on the roster......

I believe that using extra scholarships # 14 and 15 will decrease the amount of revenue sharing a school can dole out.

So our two Walkons for 24-25 have absolutely no chance of remaining on the roster even if we don’t fill their spots with new players?
I don't think Iowa has announced/clarified how many scholarships they are giving in any of the sports. I could be wrong.

The rules change every year so much that it seems most people aren't able to keep up.

I had no idea on that rule until you showed me that article.
TBH, I had no idea of that rule until I showed you the article. I knew there were incentives to stick to 13 scholarships, but I didn’t realize what they all were.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but we have 15 roster spots and will only be giving 13 scholarships.

So I see no reason we wouldn’t have 2 walk ons.

Get the 2 best walk ons you can get, as practice players.

With the rule changes I don’t think it works like that anymore. What matters now is roster size, and for every male roster spot you need a women’s one as well. The way we are used to thinking of it with walk-ons being basically a free spot on the team doesn’t apply anymore.

I don’t know how much of it is public information but I’m sure the AD has a plan for how many roster spots they can afford to support for each sport across the department.
