In response to Harbaugh’s evaluation of Purdue’s locker room

The pink locker rooms before the 2006 remodel were a friggin dump. Yes hawkbleeder there wasn't much room for the entire team to meet. I'd say they were a couple steps above the trough bathrooms in the north end zone pre-remodel.

Just the way we wanted them.....;)

P.S. We did have a 20-game home winning streak going before the remodel too.................just sayin.

Why was Harblow hanging out in the men's urinal anyway?

I don't agree with the way he brought up the issue. There are venues where the issue can be brought up and something can actually be done about it.

I completely agree with what he was saying though and with the BTN money coming in, there really isn't any excuse as to why schools can't upgrade the facilities. At a minimum, the league needs to set minimum standards for a visitors locker room and schools need to work towards accommodating them.

Seems like a ridiculous thing to complain about.

Football in general has generayed so much money the coaches and tjose in power are searching for ways to keep as much as they can before the universities start dipping in for wasteful things like undergraduate scholarships.

Yes, how dare they want AC in between half of football played in 90 degree weather! How dare they want more than 2 toilets for all those guys! Cmon now.....
I do think it was funny that jimmy was crying about it when apparently theirs are pretty crappy too!

Is the game air conditioned? My kid played 4 soccer games last weekend in 90 degree heat. No air conditioning. No locker room either.

Look at football earnings and spending and the arms race that is going on. They want more coaches, more facilities, more everything....and so they pish for these things not out of true need but rather out of a lottery einner mentality.

You really trying to compare kiddie soccer to college football? LMAO

You fail to understand how miserable some visitors' locker rooms really are. At jNW, for example, only part of the visiting team can dress at one time. The players have to use the room in shifts. The visitors' locker rooms that are described as pathetic were designed intentionally to make it difficult for a visiting team to prepare to compete. There should be a conference standard that all members are required to meet. And the dressing rooms that are "pathetic" truly need to be upgraded.

Crazy isnt it? An 11 year old girl csn play in 90 to 95 degree heat all afternoon without any air conditioning or even a locker room to complain about....

I hope she doesn't find out about this...she will throw a fit and next thing you know I will be running the minivan so she can sit in cool air.

Perhaps the college kids at places like Coe would be a better example? Do they have air conditioned locker rooms in their football stadium? Psst...they dont. And other than athletic ability there really isnt any difference between their game and effort than the big kids at michigan. Other than the money and entitled attitude of course....there is that.

It woulf however be amusing for the conference to require a flip between the home and visiting locker rooms at the stadiums to be implemented by next season. I would imagine the problem would go away....by next season

Running around in tshirt and shorts is just a little different ;).
Also, your kid isn't making anyone millions of dollars for running around that field neither is anyone at coe ;)
I say pull some money from all the BS sports that mooch off of football!

Before.....;)

But yeah if people didn't like your comparison, how about raising the stakes. All those guys overseas serving our country, they spend months, not just days, in constant 100 degree heat during the days, especially. They seem to deal with it.

But no we NEED AC for our college football players because it would make them feel more comfortable........

I'd be more concerned if they didn't have adequate supplies to get the team water.

It's no different than coaches choosing to not have heaters on the sidelines during a cold weather game. It's a convenience. Not a necessity.....

I'll give you guys a story. I was watching the story of the 1969 Minnesota Vikings and Bud Grant was talking about the bitterly cold weather they played in at Metropolitan Stadium (where the Mall of America now resides). There were games back then where they played in subzero temperatures with the wind chill.

Grant never allowed heaters to be brought on the sidelines, believing that it would provide a psychological advantage with his players showing that they would tough out the cold with only the thought of victory to keep them warm, while their less-acclimated opponents would be more inclined to seek warmth on the sidelines.

It worked pretty well, too, as dominant as the Vikings were in the late 60s and 70s.

But the story behind Grant's method came from his time working on the Alaskan pipeline. Among the people he worked with were real life Eskimos. And while other workers who weren't from that part of the world dressed in layers and would constantly look for other ways to stay warm, the Eskimos would never seem to let the cold affect them.

Grant would then shed light on the secret behind the Eskimos ability to brave the cold weather. There had been scientific studies done with Eskimos. Skin studies, health studies, etc etc. All these tests and what they found?........There was no difference genetically between the Eskimos and any other people.

It was simply that they were used to the cold, and they knew that there was a job to do, and that it needed to get done............

Cool story. Those Vikings must've won lots of Super Bowls.:)

I completely agree with you, and not the clown who suggested big-time football players need AC because they're an important part of a multi-million dollar industry. GMAFB.

Yeah, we can pay their coaches 10s of millions, but forget about buying an AC! LMAO
