Bondurant-Farrar linebacker John Carlson has made his college decision. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Carlson is going to walk on at the University of Iowa and play for the Hawkeyes. Carlson, who visited Iowa City this past weekend, gave his commitment to the Iowa coaching staff this evening.

"I had a good conversation with Coach Southmayd as well as Coach Wallace to answer any remaining questions I had and I heard everything I wanted to hear," said Carlson. "Being a lifelong fan, it was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up."

As a senior, Carlson produced on both sides of the ball with 39 catches for 915 yards and 10 touchdowns on offense to go along with 35 tackles and 4 TFL on defense.

See highlights from Carlson's senior year at Bondurant-Farrar in the video below.

I like bringing in all the LBs. Most of these guys are too short, too slow, too light to fit the mold. Some of these guys wont make the cut, some will fill out, get bigger, get faster. I would bet one of these guys makes a splash on special teams

Well, seeing the dunk he had on his twitter feed, he has some athleticism. Looks rangy and quick...add another 25 lbs and you never know.

I have often wondered how "thin" the line is between say a "3 star" recruit and a really good HS player, particularly at a position like LB. It would seem to me that there is a very good chance that out of this relatively large # of walk on LB's that at least 2-4 of them would emerge and be very solid D1 players.

I can see where this approach could work out well.
