Incompetent officials on display for the country

Not to mention the possession over turned on the possession before. The MSU player clearly slapped the ball out of the Michigan player's possession out of bounds. Ref called it as such. Somehow they overruled it.

Izzo owns this conference. Yes, his guys play their butts off. Yes, he can coach. Yes, his guys defensive positioning and habits and effort is great. But they commit the same fouls everybody else does, but don't get called nearly as much. They are allowed to play to a level of physicality that can't be matched—not without disproportionate penalty.

Winston travels—super loose with his pivot feet—all the time. And he uses his off hand to control/affect his defender pretty much constantly.

Watching Michigan State is hard for me because I want to respect them for everything they do so well but I always end up shaking my head wondering why they get away with so much.

Bradley is one of the schools I attended in my vagabond college experience. Go BU.

I thought it was out on Michigan but wasn't sure. The replays that were shown really didn't show enough to overturn. All I could think of is the officials had another view that we didn't see. If not, then they cheated.

It looked like Boroski came back after the review and signaled a jump ball. I rwd it and couldn’t definitively see the poss arrow at the scores table, but it did look like there was an arrow facing MSU near their bench.

It’s obvious the refs were just trying to be considerate of MSU since they were dealing with the fact their teammate was injured. You can’t expect them to call fouls on a team who had an injured player, that would be rude.

No chance.

Not acceptable.

The refs already knew they were purposely fouling.

How can you not have eyes on the guy with the ball.

Unfortunately, college refs are so incompetent that I'm sure they had no clue of the situation and what Mich St was trying to do there. They love blowing their whistles whenever possible, yet they don't when a team is giving a foul. Difficult to comprehend.

And there are very few who do it better than Izzo and even less who do it worse than Fran.
Izzo came up with Jud. Everybody loved Jud. Everybody. So Izzo had that going for him. Then Izzo built his program as he did. His program and its success makes him powerful. Izzo, Coach K—never mind their conferences—these guys are key assets of the NCAA brand. That carries weight. Officials are human. But as a fan of an opposing team, it's tough to watch. And I love Izzo. Just wish refs were less subjective, less "workable".

It's hard to believe they didn't understand what was happening there but I'm thinking you're right.

Then the fact that the UM player made a really smart play and tried to shoot the ball while getting intentionally fouled just totally exposed the complete absurdity of the officials calling nothing there.

It amazes me year after year you will hear Izzo brag about how they have a football mentality on the basketball court. That's all fine and good they are physical team. But time and time again you will see the foul discrepancy always in their favor.

Refs don’t determine the outcome of games. Remember that.

Officials can completely control the outcome of games; and frequently do. Especially in the Big Ten. Sparty fouls defensively four or five times each possession. They crash over backs or just push rebounders out of position. The foul guys on layups and dunks and rarely get called.

The thing is, Izzo is allowed to work the officials and other coaches are not. Fran would get tossed if he did half the stuff Izzo does every game.

I think Izzo's constant bitching makes it harder to T him up -- I'm not sure if he even got one this season. Quite remarkable really, consider how many mother effers he drops each game. Being in the club also helps.

You guys should sit behind Coach K. He acts like the Flying Nun and swears like George Patton.

No one has ever had the officials intimidated like Bob Knight. At least his diatribes were hilariously funny. He had some schtick about seeing eye dogs that contained like fifteen "****s" or some or some grammatical permutation thereof.
