Great Game. A lot of guard play for both teams. Primarily Blackmon vs Trimble. High Pic then drive, floaters, layups or dish and bombs away.

It will be interesting to see what Fran comes up with when Iowa plays them. Iowa plays fast and both these teams do too.

It appears that the "non-impeding" directive given to the officials last season are totally out the window. We seem to be the only team in the Big Ten not allowed to play this way and it will cost us in this league.

Thomas Bryant has been off for IU. He might've improved his 3 point shooting, but Dodd had an answer for every post move Bryant made and he never looked a threat to score down low.

Maryland's freshmen look good. From what I saw against Michigan, I feel like they could use Justin Jackson for more than just spacing.

No persecution syndrome. Just a fact. We don't play a physical style of defense. We actually play by the rules of basketball. Other teams in the Big Ten were called for holding and pushing last season. Drove Izzo nuts. Now it seems as though anything goes on defense in this league unless you draw blood. It just appears to me that we get called for more non-physical fouls than practically any team in the league. But, yes, I am an Iowa fan, unlike so many that post on this board.

Must be true then.....

So far in Iowa's 4 Big Ten games, Iowa has been called for 62 fouls and their opponents have been whistled for 69 fouls. Iowa has shot 68 free throws and their opponents have shot 65 FT's.

Clearly Iowa is getting hosed by B10 refs.

yes 69-62...that backups what Ronman is saying..it should be more than that.
Jok 4 fouls in 10 min
Nebraska 3 team fouls in 13 min.

so here we have you logging into a Hawkeye site...a Gopher.

If you can watch the last 15 minutes of the Iowa-Nebraska game, you will understand. The zebras made sure that Iowa did not win that game. I don't have a problem with the other games, because many of the touch fouls are Iowa's freshmen, especially Cook, not understanding what he can get away with.

He didn't say the Nebraska game he said every game. He actually said "practically" any team in the league. So if they are calling so many touch fouls, how is you still have fewer fouls called than your opponents? Is there some sort of statistical evidence to support this "fact?"

And I did watch the last 15 min of the Nebraska game. The on,y real miss I saw was I thought Pemsl got pushed out and they didn't call it. I thought all of Jok's fouls were legit.

So you think Iowa was consistently fouling Husker players, but Nebraska was just playing good defense? I am a homer, but you either have bad eyesight or saw what you wanted to see. I had more of a problem with the no calls when Iowa was on offense than the calls made on Iowa playing defense.

so you watched the last 15 min "live. If you had watched a replay you would have not posted what you posted.

Yes, I watched it live. I didn't tape it or anything but I have dvr and rewatched several calls/non-calls. Yes, there could have been other calls on Nebraska that were not called. Although I don't think many/any of them were so blatant. Some looked worse initially than they were when replayed on my dvr. But that's really beside the point I was making.

It's one thing to point out a game where it seems like you got the short end. The poster I replied to and my main point says that EVERY game Iowa is getting called for touch fouls that NO other teams in the conf get called for. And I'll say he isn't the only fan that purveys this narrative. The stats and frankly common sense says otherwise.

confused?....you watched it live..didn't tape it..but have dvr & rewatched several calls/non-calls.

I don't believe you...and I also don't think you cant get out from behind your Gopher bias.

I think Iowa's inexperience is a big reason why we are getting called for more touch fouls. Again, the Nebraska game is the only conference game where I thought Iowa got shafted. It happens a lot on the road, but usually not so much when you aren't playing IU or MSU. Cook in particular needs to learn to play position defense with his body and not to reach, which is going to get called most of the time.

Maybe this technology hasn't reached you yet but as you're watching live, with dvr, you can rewind it and watch plays over again if you'd like. But no, I didn't record an Iowa/Nebraska game and go back the next day and break down the fouls not called on Nebraska.

I have a Gopher bias if the Gophers are playing, absolutely. They weren't playing though. But I'm sure it's MY bias that is the issue here. Couldn't be yours as all.

And, no this doesn't back up his statement.

Ronman said, "It just appears to me that we get called for more non-physical fouls than practically any team in the league."

If Iowa was being called for so many more touch fouls than their opponents, they'd have MORE fouls than their opponents. But they have LESS fouls called on them actually.

It's fairly simple to follow actually.

I stand by my quote of getting called for more non-physical calls. Cook and Pemsl, in particular, have been called for numerous fouls when they were basically standing straight up with their arms raised. Hell, I've seen cross body blocks in other games not called and the constant hands on approach other teams play defense with is very different from what Iowa plays. I think this puts us at a disadvantage. As a rodent fan, don't even attempt to make the claim that you pay as much attention to the Iowa games as the Hawk fans on this board do.

Btw, nice effort against Sparty last night.

I don't pay as much attention to Iowa. I watch most all the teams play as much as I can.

I just don't know how you reconcile that "Iowa is called for more fouls" and the FACT Iowa has less fouls than their opponents. The seem extremely contradictory but I guess we'll just take your word for it.

Btw, nice effort at Purdue.

There's a component of every fan base suffering from referee persecution syndrome. Iowa is no different.

let me get this straight...you come to a Hawkeye site...read Ronman's post..take the time to go add up the fouls (which right there tells me everything I need to know about you).

Make smart ass comments like maybe this technology hasn't reached you. You didn't rewind the live action...and you KNOW IT. Sure thing.a Gopher fan is watching a Neb-Iowa game and is rewinding the game to watch calls & non-calls. BullShit.
