I try to keep my opinions out of the Twitter thread but these most recent tweets have me pumped. Imo Coach K. Bell is our best recruitter and now we have the kids recruitting kids. That is excellent for the program. I think it puts us in great shape with D. Bell (wr) and athletes from that area moving fwd. I know the focus is on FL, GA, and TX but if we could get more looks from the "2nd tier" in Chi, STL, and Indy that would be another great way to up the talent level. What say you?

Edit: I say "2nd tier" because the traditional powers normally get the 5 stars but I would be a.o.k with getting those guys as well.

The 2013-2015 classes had 21 players in the top 1000 per 247 composite. 10 in the top 700, 1 in top 350. 14 played a year or less before gone and 8/10. Only J.Daniels, Welsh, M.Taylor and M.Nelson panned out well so far, only Paulsens and Newborg left for a too be determined.

The 2016-2018 classes have 41 players in the top 1000, 24 in the top 700, 3 top 350. The 2016 class has 14(1000) & 9(700), 6 of those 9 are already starters. 2017 class has 12(1000)5(700) and 3(350), 3 of them are already starters. We already have 9 starters from a class and a half, 21 of 41 are yet to start their eligibility and more importantly, no one's left yet. This is a HUGE change here!

We've been pretty fortunate to develop some of the unranked, lightly recruited kids to the level Iowa has. Wadley, King, Jewell '13, Jackson, Hesse '14, A.Nelson '15... these are the unranked gems of those years. It's just not enough!

Fact is, we are going to have far more talent in 3 classes, and it's not even close. Average rank of #57.7 (14 of top 21(1000) left team) vs #43 (41 of 41(1000) still on team), again, not even close. This 2019 class already has 2 (350) ,3(700) and a very under rated Fenske who's just outside the top 1000. I'm very confident we're going to finish much higher than the 40s, a David Bell could ice the whole cake of this class! Iowa's definitely bolstered the coaching staff with much better recruiters!

This is a solid post with some info I was not aware of. Thanks for sharing.

Big fan of Coach Bell, but I think Seth Wallace is the best recruiter we have. Coach Wallace can flat out, "Seal the Deal."

I'm a little out of touch recently. Why would you say Wallace is the best recruiter we have? (pardon any ignorance on my part - genuinely curious)

Definetly think recruiting has been headed in an upward trajectory the last couple of years, and into the future. Many factors, play in I think. The 2015 season, the new facilities impressing new recruits, and certainly the addition of some new blood in the coaching ranks. The Hawks could be on the verge of another impressive run, if they can step up and seize the moment, and knock Wisky off the west throne. THIS year on the field will be crucial. That early season game with the Badgers will be one of the biggest games in recent Iowa history, IMHO........

I may very well be wrong ~ this is only my personal opinion based solely on my memory of (1) who Coach Wallace has landed vs. lost; (2) quality of the recruits landed; and (3) how heavily he had to compete against other schools for the recruit. I've been watching our recruiting many years. If you think somebody else is better recruiter, great ~ I'll respect your opinion!
