I wouldn't be surprised to see Iowa vs Michigan, which I think would be a very competitive game.

I like our chances to win out, but even if that happens we still need Wisconsin to lose one. That is NOT a gimme. Wisconsin will probably be favored in the remainder of their games.

Reasons to be optimistic with what we've seen, but there's too much football yet to be played to go that far.

Our next two games are on the road. Penn St. and
Purdue will be waiting for us. Right now our focus is
on Penn St. we have to bring our best effort to beat
them We have the ability to win both games, but we
still need to execute our offensive attack and our
defensive scheme..

After the Wisconsin game, I had figured that Iowa and Wisconsin would probably both lose to Penn State. However, after watching Penn States run defense I think there is a decent chance we both beat them. Of course, Penn State can crowd the line more with Wisconsin then they can with us. I don't normally root for the fighting Pedsters, but I probably will when they line up against Bucky. Next week, I am an Iowa fan and a Northwestern fan.

We’ll know 3 weeks from now how good we are. This starts the most important stretch of the season. @Penn State, @Purdue, vs Northwestern. I will say this, if we win at Penn State that probably means we’ll be in the NY6. I don’t see us losing 2 in a row.

Uhh... no, we're there if we win out and Wisconsin loses again. Not to state the obvious but that claim doesn't pass the smell test.

I've been around and coached football since 1960 and know one thing. The time you consider a game a good chance for a win is when it will bite you. After watching Purdue tonight that game looks to be more suspect than Penn St. That said if I was the coach the last game against Neb would also have me worried.

This is the point of a good season when fans start to question it, no it can't be true. Those teams I said we were gonna curb stomp three weeks ago are now real dangerous threats. We got to be super extra duper worried about team Y. Only one winnable game left. blah, blah, blah, etc. etc.

Yep. Nothing better for the husker faithful than to end their season on high by derailing Iowa’s. That’s the stuff rivalries are made from.

Iowa has one game left this season they can play les than stellar in, and that is Illinois. Bring anything less then their a game in any of the other 4, Iowa loses.

Ferentz and the boys better be ready to strap them up the next 5 weeks. Get er done.

I remember when I first put a cart before the dadgum horse. Holy hell son! Three buckeyes will be removed from yer pumpkin pie tin helmet,

There’s potential for NW to beat us and Wisconsin to sneak into Indy. NW might lose all 3 non-cons and win the West!

Purdue hosts MSU & Iowa & travels to Wisconsin down the stretch.

Wisconsin hosts both PSU &’Purdue at home. That’s it. Our loss at home to them was a killer and decider of the West because it’s a 2 game swing.

Our defense will keep us in games and I’m happy to see the run game showing some signs of life. The rest of the schedule should be a fun ride.

Kirk’s teams generally get better as the season goes on if they stay healthy. There may be a couple of losses in our future, but even if that happens I’m pleased with how this team is progressing and what the future of Hawkeye football looks like.

One minor criticism/thought: Missing TJ for the wide open TD at the end of the 1st qtr was a rare miss by Nate. As a result, Iowa settled for the FG. Iowa needs to execute those types of plays starting next week if it expects to win the West.

i think its gonna be the little things that decide Iowa's fate.

* one game at a time
* executing on every play / do your job
* turnover margin--minus 3 vs Wisky was the difference

If you fans keep looking past Penn State, the team is going to lose.

I don’t think it’s the fans that we need to worry about looking ahead and past PSU. Something tells me this PSU game has been circled on the calendar after last year with Trace McChumpley’s antics.

Wisky goes to NW this week, and at PSU and Purdue the last two out of three weeks of the season in back to back games as well. It’s going to come down to the last game of the season for Iowa if they can get past PSU and Purdue these next two weeks.

I think Iowa beats PSU this week with a stellar defensive effort similar to 09. I am worried about the Purdue game though.

He likes to make people dislike him.
Given the opportunity I think the Hawkeyes will do their best to beat them down and run up the score.

Good call on the schedule for Wisky. Maybe Wisky loses then. It really comes down to running the table for us which I still have my doubts about but it’s not impossible. Getting it done at PSU would go a long way.

It's getting pretty tiresome hearing TV announcers and other air heads continue to claim Iowa "has a relatively easy schedule" the rest of the way. While I am highly optimistic that the Hawkeyes will win out and play in Indy on Dec. 1, I am not blind. Playing @ PSU, @ Purdue and hosting NW and Nebraska (now that it has won a game) is NOT "relatively easy" . . . unless the alternative were the Rams, the Pats, and folks like that.

Ohio State was flatter than the earth before Columbus last night, but Purdue brought the energy and met every challenge. I believe Iowa will win in West Lafayette, but I also believe it won't be easy. Likewise for State College next week. I believe Iowa is a better football team than any of the opponents left on the schedule, but they play the games because you have to prove it every week.

So the rest of this regular season will be a challenge, but look at how Iowa has met that challenge so far. Drubbing a good IU team in Bloomington that PSU struggled with. Shutting out one of the nation's top rushing teams at Kinnick and doing so with a largely one-dimensional running attack of its own because of the wind.

If Iowa wins out as I hope and expect, it will NOT be because the schedule was easy. It will be because it was difficult. But that's what championship teams do.

Illinois is the only one you can pencil in the rest of the way.
Totally agree, Purdue looked like world beaters last night and Nebraska's offense is really running on all cylinders. Don't know what it is about Northwestern but they give us fits. Beating Penn State next week is a tall order.

We could easily lose two to three down the stretch if we donlt bring our "A" game.

I love this team, and think it could be a special year, but holy shit man. IMO, this thing is gonna go down to the wire. We may very well be playing Nebraska and need to win to get in.

What if Iowa brings their B game and Purdue brings their C+ game? To put it another way....Iowa plays to their best 85% and Purdue 78%.
