IndyStar article on possible Caitlin Clark impact WNBA/Indianapolis

Thank you so much for the link! I tried several several times yesterday to access this article w/o success (not subscribing); I truly appreciate it.

So, for anyone who doesn’t understand the money, her popularity, or how exposure works, please read or reread the article.

We, as Iowa fans, are incredibly blessed by CC and ALL of her teammates who recognize her greatness and don’t have huge egos. THEY recognize playing with CC makes them all better and they play as a TEAM. LGH!

I don't see her having near the impact in the pros as she is having with college. More people watch, keep up with women's college ball than WNBA
Not even close.

Hopefully she stays another year. She can still earn that whopping, subsidized, $75k in another season or so.

Doesn't Conner work for the Pacers? If so, I would think Caitlin will enter the draft.

I think she makes more money staying. She will get even more NIL deals next year.

The hype and media attention she gets this year makes her value even greater next year.

All and any records she sets this year at Iowa will be meaningful, if she stays another year, those further records will be meaningless. I am looking forward to watching her next year with the Fever.

I agree, I would also like to see her play four years so all her records are "natural".

She probably wants to challenge herself against the best, and I see her leaving after this season.

She doesn’t lose her endorsements by going pro. What is so hard for people to understand?
I never said she would lose it going pro.
However, she has much more exposure in college than WNBA with every game having an article on ESPN And better television.
It is easier for her to keep ADDING endorsements in college with huge exposure.
So she doesn’t go down in WNBA, but will she make more from $75k salary or new national NIL she could sign next year at Iowa?

Except for her bank records

Caitlin has the potential to change the WNBA into something much bigger, just as she's done with women's college BB, but her reach is much bigger in college than it will be in the WNBA.

Women's college BB is in an ascendancy, getting much more press, and higher attendance and TV ratings. For once, it seems truly RELEVANT. The WNBA has 12 teams no one can name, games on TV no one watches, and a paltry 40 game season with the entire league underwritten by the NBA. The college game had a compelling tourney in March, multiple superstars even casual fans can name, and the promise of another blockbuster tourney in 2024

I don't think Caitlin enhances her marketability by going to the WNBA, a league that is not even self-sustaining, can't afford to hardly pay its players, and gets paltry TV ratings, even during the playoffs. As I've said before, she has the rest of her life to play and maybe transform the WNBA, but she only has one more season to continue what she's started in women's college BB

"Natural", just like "Covid", the only reason she could come back I believe.

True enough, but by seasons end she may feel its time for some new challenges in her future.....
