Installing a Baby Swing

I'm installing a baby swing under my deck for my first child today. All of the instructions I have seen online say to drill vertically through the bottom of the deck. I would rather drill horizontally into it if possible so that it doesn't stick out of the top of my deck. Does anybody with experience with this see any problems I may run into if I drill horizontally and install the eye bolts this way? Thanks!
