BarnaclesHad no idea on that. That does remind me of when we used to have a Long John Silver in town and my wife would mainly eat the hush puppies and the crispy pieces at the bottom of the fish or chicken basket. Those were by far her favorite. I could trade her all my crispies for another chicken plank!
go figure Torbee would post lies in the mediaDon’t trust everything you see on the internet. It’s 100% BS.
The real answer to the origin of hush puppies was that it had a different name for quite some time (red horse bread called that because it was famously sold at an area that fried fish including red horse suckers and then cornbread in the now fishy tasting oil) and it wasn’t until the 20s and 30s that restaurants in Florida started calling it Hush puppies. Allegedly called that to hush down the dogs but that’s probably just a quaint story with no real basis in fact.
The Real History of Hushpuppies
Hushpuppies are delicious, iconically Southern, and no one seems to have a clue where they came from. We dig into that history to try to fix that.www.seriouseats.com

Well, in fairness, you are a black lab. That probably got passed down from one generation to the next in dog families.I thought everybody knew that.
If you have a source you can cut and paste an update to Wikipedia:I thought everybody knew that.
Says "don't trust everything on the internet" and then posts "something from the internet" to back up a claim.
