That was a good read for sure. I think the author is missing one giant part though. The emerging “let’s sit and eat popcorn and watch it burn” attitude that is now seeping into the Democratic base is a result of the American authoritarian citizens being overwhelmingly stupid and brainwashed through decades of disinformation.

The malevolence and buffoonery of Trump is obvious and clear and the fact he was still elected speaks for itself. These people can’t be reasoned with and truly are best described as a cult. There is not a way to break them away at this point. Nothing will change them. Not even dildos of consequences.

The only hope is that huge swath of ambivalent voters who seek and get no information and / or don’t vote. Tend to vote with the perceived winner or not at all. They can’t really be reached either in normal times. But they will quickly awake when the dildos of consequences for their ill informed vote / non vote begin arriving, un-lubed. That fire will awaken the biggest voting block.
