Iowa ‘education’ bill silences students

@binsfeldcyhawk2 Never thought you were an idiot. Your performance today, makes it unequivocal that you are an idiot.

How could a respectable parent NOT know? Never thought you would become one of those juvenile trollers but you do you.
How can a respectable parent not know their kid is failing in school, taking drugs, considering suicide, drinking alcohol or having sex? “Respectable” parents seem to miss some pretty important shit from time to time.

Haha. The whole city would be talking about it. This is so dumb. Again, NOT A SINGLE KID OR PARENT that knew that Jim was now going by Mary would tell the transgender's parent(s). You seriously look like an idiot if you aren't trolling. Edit: Kids taking drugs, drinking alcohol and having sex approach their teachers about this? JFC ... PLEASE be trolling.

Failing school? Yeah, that's on the parents for not knowing.

Taking drugs? Usually by the time the parents figure this one out the kid is already waaaaaay down the rabbit hole. Kids are very good at not doing drugs at home, at least until they get really addicted.

Considering suicide? Depends....parents should monitor social media use but this can be very hard to do. Especially since there are platforms designed to prevent exactly that. Kids generally don't talk to their parents about stuff like this. This is one where the parents need help from the people they do talk to. Usually friends.

Drinking alcohol....well, that fits in with drug use.

Having sex...good luck doing anything about this. The best you can hope for is your kid being smart enough to use protection because there is nothing you can say that's going to stop this from happening. If your son or daughter is in high school and dating someone for a few months, they are having sex of some sort. Maybe not sex in the reproductive way, but it's happening. Probably best to not think about it too much and hope that your kid is using protection. Were none of you ever teenagers? We did this crap and we didn't have the internet to show us what the deal was. The average teenager is far more knowledgeable about these topics than any of us were, even the ones who are not participating.

There weren’t any to my knowledge. Seems to be a contagion nowadays 😂
Well that’s certainly what some people want you to believe. I’m fairly certain now with all of this focus on the topic that the majority of Americans are in fact transgender, or rather they are potentially transgender if they were to just fall into the wrong crowd or speak to the wrong teacher.

It’s crazy this topic continues to hog the news cycles and the state legislative agendas from sea to shining sea. It’s a constant topic on these boards. Clearly some people in this country view this as the most important social problem of the 21st century. What does that say about them and their priorities? Any idea why this legislation is so uniform from state to state? When are people going to wake up and realize who is coordinating this ridiculous agenda?

Hint: it’s merely a distraction so that the actual problems here can be left to simmer on the back burner to preserve the status quo and allow the cash flows to various monied groups to continue uninterrupted.

Why do educators think it is their responsibility to involve themselves in children’s sexual orientation? Shouldn’t these people be brought up on charges?

Draw up a crime for any public school capacity person of authority, teacher, administrator, etc that abuses their position to push their own political agenda on children. Get it passed as soon as possible. That would put an end to a lot of this crap. Charge them and prosecute. This is child abuse.

This reads better in the original German.

A wonderful thread illustrating the exact reason parents absolutely need to protect their children from educators. Labeling all parents as abusers that children need to be protected from all the while promoting their own moral virtue and judgement to unequivocally know what is best.

Parents are done being pushed out of their children's lives. No these kids re not yours and no you do not have the authority to behave this way

Parents being pushed out of the kids' lives? Where do you get this from? This is absurd. So a kid is using drugs, a parents is unaware because they were "pushed out of their kids' lives"? Might it be that the parents were asleep at the wheel? There are a lot if parents, and this has been true for a very long time, that want parenting done by schools. Who is responsible for that?

In today's world, teachers are expected to have 4-5 preps daily, coach a sport, attend meetings, have parent conferences, and now you want them to spy on a kid to see if the kid is transgender?

First of all, guidance counselors are better equipped to handle situations like this. Imagine the scenario if they're wrong? And, suspecting a kid is transgender? Isn't that expecting someone to be judgmental when they may not have all the information?

This is why many teachers are afraid to even be in the classroom. It's like someone is always looking for someone to blame.

Some of you really need to study Early childhood development.

Doubtful, but the story is pretty much the same wherever you go. The only exceptions are the ones whose parents kept them under lock and key for 18 years and then their kids went to college and flunked out the first semester because that's when they discovered beer and sex.

My kids were wild as hell but it wasn’t because we were “bad” parents.
Affluent Far North Dallas neighborhood and busy successful parents and the kids were all from “fortunate” circumstances.
Luckily they grew up. So did 98% of their classmates.
Out of both their classes combined three of the kids came out after high school and it was absolutely no big deal. Everyone is still buddies. That’s just over 1,000 kids.
No one that they know of is non-binary or has transitioned. One of my daughters friends does have an uncle who became her aunt, but that happened when they were in high school and the person is a good human being - and would be regardless of their gender.

This is some next level gaslighting.

Teachers and school administrators are mandatory reporters if abuse. As in if they suspect abuse and do not report it they can lose their license to teach and in some cases face criminal liability. This idea that the kids need to be protected on the presumption of abuse sets aside all rights of a parent and the basic tenet of our entire legal system that people are innocent unless proven guilty. If a transgender or gay student comes out and is worried about abuse a teacher is legally required to report that to protect the kids. Not enable a out aide the locus of control all parent have within their children's lives.

So yes these types of actions by Teachers and school district are attempting to push parents out of the decision making and knowledge of their children's lives. It is not ok in any sense and laws like these are reminding Teachers and schools exactly where their lane exists. No as Teachers you are not the ultimate authority in a child's life and no you do not get to decide what to withhold from parents. If you suspect abuse to the point that you would withhold information from a parent then you ad a teacher are ethically, professionally, and legally required to report that to the department of human services or child protective services.

Do you work in the school system?

I am well aware of hippa laws, the abuse reporting, and have recently just been re certifed.

FYI, you do not get re-certifed without the training.

Nailed it. We tell people Republicans distract to stupid shit constantly. Then they do it, and their voters and independents like bins fall for it. Always predictable and they know their idiot base will jump right on topic and ignore ACTUAL ISSUES. Issues Democrats want to fix. Dumbest populace in the world.

You assholes have attempted to label all parents as abusive. **** off.
Nobody's done this. Teachers at public schools get random kids through the doors every year. Some of them are going to have abusive parents. Just a fact when you're thinking about public policy and not like an insecure parent always looking to be insulted about the job you're doing (i.e. a snowflake parent).

Teachers and administrators stealing the agency of parents is simply wrong.

If the policy for the school is that parents cannot be notified without a students consent, then administrators may not discuss these issues with their children without parental consent either.

Children are not legal agents. Parents and adults are.

These policies are infringing on parent’s rights to raise their children as they see fit. Stealing their agency without consent. If parents don’t want their children indoctrinated into the transgender religious cult that is their choice.

Public schools are not indoctrination centers!

Who's being indoctrinated in the transgender religious cult?

As I understand it teachers are required to report if they even suspect someone is transgender. That's WAAAAAAYYYYYY out of line imo. What's next? If they suspect they are gay? Or might be having sex?

Teachers are there to teach, not spy and interject into deeply personal areas.
Call the media. I am in 100% agreement with Riley.
There is hope for humanity!
