I feel like if you haven't been good in 20 years, then you just aren't good anymore.
It means they haven't been able to achieve the traditional ("historic") success which placed them in their current spot.

To single out Nebraska for example, the last 20 years has not produced #6 level of success...not even close. Even their most rabid fans would admit such.

I'll leave it to all of you to debate where you would place them now if you were to weight the past 20 years more heavily than the 80-100 years prior to that.

I will place them at #48

B1G has 4 of the top 10 programs. Pretty impressive.

I'd put Alabama, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma all in the top 5. Nebraska seems a little high historically speaking, but would probably be top 10

ISU is 113th out of 130 in winning percentage. Among P5 teams, only NW, Indiana, and Wake Forest have lower percentages. So 95th may be too high.

Wake, Indiana, and Northwestern have all had a lot higher highs than ISU and are ranked ahead of them accordingly.

95 is way too high of a ranking for ISU.

There are also a lot of newer faces in the FBS ranks, so ISU can only fall so far back.

But if you want, we could make a rule so that they are the 131st team out of 130......;)

Here are the metrics I promised...

Each National Championship = 15 pts
Each Conference Championship = 12 pts*
Each Bowl Game Participated In = 10 pts
Each Bowl Game Win = 7 pts
Each Week At #1 in AP = 5 pts
Each Week In AP Poll = 2 pts

Record Over The Last 20 Yrs = used to determine whether a ^ is added to label the program as 'under-performing' vs historic slot; also a head-to-head tie-breaker should one be needed

*INDEPENDENT (for at least 75% of program history), take all-time wins divided by 100 then round accordingly (multiply x2 for ND & PSU only); then add any legit CCs they have after joining a conference. For example: Penn State >> 887 / 100 = 9 x 2 = 18 ...add 4 = 22 x 12 = 264 pts applied for conference championships

I'm surprised your metrics have 'Ole Miss playing well below their historic #35 for the past 20 years. Don't have numbers in front of me, but I know that the Eli days fall within that range, they have won 3 Cotton Bowls and played in two NY6 games (won Sugar, lost Peach). They must have had some God-awful years in between to be significantly below #35 since 1999.

Based upon bowl/bowl wins they are about where they should be ...it's the lack of CCs that hurt them, plus they've had some God-awful years. Another thing that bothers me about schools like Ole Miss (Nebraska, North Carolina, etc) is that they always finish with Top 10-20 recruiting classes, yet never realize their potential. Not that I specifically dinged them for it, but I probably should have.

ISU should receive negative points for their conference championship drought.
