Iowa Athletics True Nature

Again that’s not the point, the point is that Iowa can afford to have all these sports as more as well. The way to do this is to stop wasting money on bloated coaches salary’s and excessive spending on items that should of been cut back long ago.

I'm not saying swimming and tennis, should be gone, but is it possible the AD sees those two sports as waste and excessive spending thus those were the ones getting cut.

I can't believe the responses from people who actually agree with OP. No one feeds money into their football programs. Football is nearly the only athletic program anywhere that actually pays for itself. Mens basketball and (sometimes) wrestling earn their way but the rest of the athletic programs at Iowa and everywhere else are dependent on football for their existence. We feed money into programs that do not earn their way like tennis, swimming, gymnastics, golf, softball, volleyball, women's basketball, field hockey, baseball and more. Those programs are bloated blood suckers. Why do they even exist? If we answer that we do want those programs, we need to find a way to pay for them. Expecting the football program to be everyone's sugar daddy is what is distorted and sickening and bloated.
