Three game series set for this next weekend

Feb 14th - 3:30 pm -Calvin Mathews
Feb 15th - 2:00pm - Sasha Kuebel
Feb 16th - 1:00pm - Tyler Peyton

Looks like weather will be in the upper 30's

Austin Peay finished 47-15 last year and went 2-2 in regional play in the NCAA Tournament before being knocked out by Indiana. Iowa lost the series 1-2 last year. Austin Peay did lose 6 starters from their infield and they are young. However, they are still picked to finish 2nd in the OVC.

Any word on the health of the players that you know of? I remember reading in the fall that some guys were dinged up and might miss some time. Thanks!
Sounds like they're healthy, thankfully.

Looks like game time is pushed back to 7pm. The temp is good, but looks like rain most of the day. Not sure Iowa plays today...

Iowa defeated Austin Peay in Rick Heller's first game as coach. Iowa won 11-5 over Austin Peay. Iowa had a huge 4th inning where they scored 7 runs after being down 1-0 and never trailed again. Iowa also scored 1 run each in the 7th/8th and 2 runs in the 9th.

Iowa had 8 hits which included a grand slam HR by Blake Hickman in the 4th inning. Calvin Mathews pitched four innings for Iowa in the start giving up 3 earned runs and Andrew Hedrick pitched five innings giving up 2 runs in the 9th.

Iowa defeats Austin Peay in game two 15-13.

Blake Hickman with another good game as he was 2-5 with 2 RBI's. Newcomer Dan Potempa from Iowa Central went 2-2 with 3 RBI's in the second game.

Iowa wins the series and goes for the sweep on Sunday. I am hoping for a quality start for Iowa pitching though this time around.

Iowa lost the final game 7-4 to Austin Peay, not the end of the world as Iowa won the series 2-1 and I will take a 2-1 series every weekend. Iowa was up 4-2 before giving up the final 5 runs. Blake Hickman did hit another HR in this game.

Iowa faces Miss Valley State, St.Bonaventure, Ball State, and Neb-Omaha in Florida next weekend.
