Iowa (18-9, 2-1 BIG) travels to Northwestern for a B1G series. Northwestern is 8-19 and 0-3 in B1G play.

This is a very winnable series for Iowa, so we will see how it goes. We've had trouble vs Northwestern in the past. Northwestern hits .247 as a team and has a 5.62 ERA. Iowa will face a guy with a 9.95 ERA on Friday, and two freshman on Sat/Sun. They each have an ERA of 4.22 and 5.79.

Iowa beats Northwestern 14-2 and that's a great start for this weekend. Hope they keep it up!
-Nick Gallagher threw seven scoreless innings. Allowed three hits, two walks, and had 5 K's. He gets the W.
-Nick Nelson came in and threw the final two innings. Nelson allowed five hits and two earned runs. He had 1 K.

Iowa had 13 hits on the day, but NW used four different pitchers and walked 12 guys!
-Mason McCoy was 3-5 with a HR, double, and had 4 RBIs
-Jake Adams was 2-5 with a double and 2 RBIs
-Matt Hoeg was 2-3 with a double and 2 RBIs
-Robert Neustrom was 2-5 with two doubles and an RBI

Iowa is now 19-9 and 3-1 in the B1G.

Iowa Baseball loses to Northwestern 7-5 and this is a really bad loss from a conference stand point and RPI stand point. Sunday is always an adventure so Iowa could lose this series and be .500 in the B1G which isn't where I thought we'd be. RPI wise if we lose on Sunday, as early as it is we probably have to win the B1G tournament to make regionals. Iowa gave up WAY too any free bases today in key situations and had a costly error as well.

-Ryan Erickson threw 3 IP, 3 H, 5 R (3 ER), 2 Walks, 1 K
-Zach Daniels threw 2 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 K, He hit two batters though, the L goes on his record
-Kyle Shimp threw 2 1/3 , 1 H, 3 K's, 1 Walk. He has really come on strong.

Iowa outhit Northwestern 10-8 but ultimately that doesn't matter.
-Jake Adams was 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI
-Tyler Cropley was 2-4 with a HR and 2 RBI
-Mitch Boe was 1-2 with 1 RBI
-Chris Whelan was 2-5

Iowa had the tying run at the plate in Jake Adams in the 9th and NW intentionally walked him and it paid off as Neustrom grounded out to end the game. Iowa needs to come out fighting on Sunday and find a way to take this series.

I haven't seen him on any lists so far. Hopefully he will be around next year, Gallagher, too. Could be really good next year.

Iowa loses to NW 6-5 and drops the series. Iowa is now 3-3 in B1G play. Any momentum we thought we had the last few weeks is gone as far as I am concerned. NW had literally one of the worst RPI's in the country entering this series.

Iowa's pitching once again struggled today...

Iowa goes on the road to Western Illinois and then Nebraska next weekend. Going to be a battle to make the B1G tournament it looks like if this pitching keeps up.

Iowa's RPI was 65 after beating NW on Friday, it has fallen to 88 after dropping two.

Also, Iowa is at home vs Western Illinois on Tuesday then @ Nebraska
