Iowa heads to West Lafayette. Iowa is 7-3 in their last 10. Purdue is worst batting team in the conference, means they will score 15 in one game. Iowa’s rotation is the same as it has been. Games are 5pm, 12pm, and 12pm. Can really separate ourselves into the top 6 or be fighting for 7th/8th.

Iowa gives up 5 in the 7th and loses. What a terrible loss. They get What deserve though leaving them loaded three times. Every time Iowa has a chance to separate themselves in the conference standings they do this. Just hope we can salvage the series in game two or it’s going to be a grind to make the conference tournament.

Iowa wins the series and goes to 7-5 in conference play. Too bad we didn’t get sweeps the last two weekends as 9-3 would have us in conversation for a conference title. Hitting mustered enough in the 8th when the Purdue starter was doing well. He got hurt, Hope he is ok but Iowa robbed up the reliever. Tall task next weekend with Nebraska at home. Pack Banks folks!

Iowa’s RPI ends up moving up 2 spots after all that this weekend to 81. Probably will be on the outside looking in even best case.

You’re on the road and 2/3 vs Purdue = moves up 2

At home with same results against similar teams = down 20

Lot of baseball to be played yet. Still series against Nebraska, Maryland, UC Irvine, all of who are Top 60 RPI teams. Plus MSU and Ohio State, plus the mid-week games. Iowa would need to really string some wins together to get an at-large NCAA bid. But they aren't just in hope and prayer mode either.

Ohio StAte has shown some life taking 2/3 vs Michigan

Agreed. But the window is closing fast.

FWIW . . . these are B1G baseball records against top 50 RPI teams with breakdown of record vs. Top 25 and record vs. #26-#50.:

1. Nebraska - RPI of 37; (4-7) - (2-5/2-2)
2. Indiana - RPI of 23; (5-5) - (0-4/5-1)
3. Michigan - RPI of 65; (1-4) - (1-3/0-1)
4. Iowa - RPI of 83; (6-7) - (3-3/3-4)
5. Maryland - RPI of 62; (3-11) - (3-10/0-1)
6. Northwestern - RPI of 84; (2-7) - (1-5/1-2)
7. Rutgers - RPI of 154; (0-3) - (0-3/0-0)
8. Minnesota - RPI of 77; (4-11) - (0-4/4-7)
9. Purdue - RPI of 174; (1-10) - (0-1/1-9)
10. Ohio State - RPI of 163; (0-1) - (0-0/0-1)
11. Illinois - RPI of 21; (5-3) - (0-0/5-3)
12. Penn State - RPI of 179; (1-5) - (1-2/0-3)
13. Michigan State - RPI of 182; (0-13) - (0-0/0-13)

As it stands, Iowa is tied with Maryland for the most wins against teams rated in the RPI top 25 with 3. Iowa has more wins than teams in the RPI top 50 than any other B1G team. Only Indiana and Illinois have a better winning percentage than Iowa against teams that are in the RPI top 25.

Taking the series against Nebraska would be very helpful. Having Maryland sneak into the top 50 RPI before we play them would be a good development. Same for the Anteaters . . .

Currently at 20-14 with 20 to play. Take series against Nebby, Maryland and UC Irvine and RPI will respond. Going to take that plus a very good, deep showing in the B1G tournament for an at-large to be in play. Likely need to take out Nebby, Indiana, Illinois, Maryland or Michigan to be taken seriously. Winning 32-34 games in regular season and advancing to B1G final four may get them into some discussion but I'm thinking that it would take a championship game appearance to become a serious at-large contender.

EDIT . . FWIW, Iowa's RPI Top 50 opponents have been Okie State (2-1); Evansville (1-2); Indiana (0-3); Illinois (3-0); Illinois State (0-1)

Thanks Aurora. Pretty much agree with that. Just sweep Nebraska and Maryland, and win all the rest of the series :)
