Iowa Basketball Tix - Mind Blown 🤯

This is wonderful.

If you are a season ticket holder. I couldn't get them because the site crashed (like it did for NCAA tickets last year) and there was no shot.

I have only gone to one game all year, men's or women's, and that was at Kinnick vs DePaul. We were trying to go to the game in Madison but it would have been over $150 for everyone to go.

It kind of goes to show the support level there is for the revenue sports at Iowa. That's why I hate that average was acceptable for Barta and he had some ridiculous fear of losing ferentz and mccaffery. Even while getting more and more stale and apathetic with football, tickets still sold and generate a ton of money in seat contributions for season tickets. Same for the good tickets for basketball, aftermarket ticket prices for big ten games for both are still well more than face value for anything decent. A really GOOD sport is a cash cow. Translate those aftermarket tickets for women's basketball into football if they actually contended for a conference championship vs winning a poor division to get blown out by the champion. Think what those aftermarket ticket prices would be if mens basketball actually competed for conference championships and legitimate post season success. Mens basketball and football will ALWAYS fill most seats. Non con games for basketball will still have some duds, but for the most part attendance is really exceptional for both sports. A 15000 seat arena looks empty for a lot of games, but Iowa usually is in the top 30 for attendance nationally surrounded by a lot of teams that win a lot more and eek out of the first weekend of the tournament occasionally this century.

It's happening for road games too, so it's not just hawkeye fans supporting the home team.

I bought 4 tickets yesterday on stubhub for Iowa v Maryland at College Park.

Tickets are equal to or more expensive than the men's game versus Michigan.

For comparison section 126 Iowa v Maryland $179...Maryland versus Purdue $9

Are you sure that some of the issues with low attendance for men's basketball isn't be cause people are choosing between watching clark or watching the men?

Produce a winner and the fans will come. Caitlin is most of the Iowa team and they got to finals last year.

Give Fran credit for getting Garza and Keegan, then subtract for not being able to do anything significant with those two POY type talents.
Yeah, like there are no other talented teams in this country, or the fact depending on how each team shoots most teams have a chance of 🏆

Think you really don't know what average means.

Fran couldn't get regular sellouts with Luka or the twins.

Men's hoops has still never recovered from Pierre Pierce then Lick made it worse.

Fran had generational talents back to back….and accomplished nothing….that is when I officially fully checked out of men’s basketball.

Bluder took Gustafson to the Elite Eight, and now you are seeing what she does with an even bigger talent.

Coming back for the holidays and thinking of taking fam to basketball game. Tix to the men’s game are about $8 for cheap seats. Tix for the women’s game are $355 for same-ish seats. 🤯

They’re more expensive than some of the Michigan vs Alabama Rose Bowl tix.
$8 to watch Brock and Owen
$6 for a Carver Cone
$0 for parking

my kinda night

My sentiment exactly. I miss Iowa basketball but I've been burned too many times. I was once an ardent supporter of McCaffery, even when others called me a fool, and they did at times. I just don't see the point any longer as I've been down this road too many times over the last 13 years or so now.

To be fair, the best team of that run when they were top 10 most of season was the year fans weren't allowed...attendance would have been very good under normal circumstances, especially if the 20 team had made a run when tourney got canceled.

I do think there is truth to that second sentence. Crap defense, nepotism, and Fran's tirades are other things that turn people off. That said, they were #24 in the country in attendance last year and the team only cracked the top 25 (#25) for 1 week in November. Also had fans who would rather go see Caitlin Clark. Not bad

If Fran wasn't a stubborn ass he'd hire a defensive guru assistant like Beilein did. But Fran is a stubborn ass, just like Kirk

Why so when a decent teams comes to carver people can sit through a blowout watching the men. Apathy has sent in and lots of fans are ready for a change

Bought 7 tickets a month ago from seatbgeek for the Jan 16th game against Wisconsin, those were the only tickets available and they were 775 dollars total. Even against bad teams the tickets are expensive…that is the power of CC.

In the past when the students are gone on break they have sold me a student ticket for ten bucks. We all have our own standards, so maybe you don't want to take your kids to the student section. It can be a little different. There are no reserved seats, its first come 1st serve. The band plays real loud right next to you, Herky will come into the stands and create a disturbance, and of course there can be some alcohol use. Me, if a 21 year old drunk woman insists on rubbing up against me or even sitting in my lap for a while, I just put up with the inconvenience.

Ah, yes, another W for the Vid.

And I was at the Oregon game. They win that game 100/100 times no matter if everyone was 100%. Only potential was the twins and Luka starting but, no, Fran had to bring them along at a good pace.

I think about that now and we had Connor starting over the fourth pick in the draft 👎 and Kris didn't even play...... Only us.

Don’t get me started with Pat over Keegan that year, then started over Kris two years ago. Then this year Pat should be coming off the bench, Freeman starting with Krikke, Sandfort, Perkins, and Bowen or Harding. Thirty years coaching and he can’t, nor does he want to see the obvious that his kid doesn’t deserve to start…..but Margaret. That entire family can leave after this season. Thanks for all you’ve done but it’s time for a change for everyone.

And they didn’t have a “real” sell out because the upper deck wasn’t available for ticket sales. Place seats 17,287 and they only sold 12,252 tickets to the public. Talk about not taking advantage of an opportunity to really sell out and make a lot more money on those unused seats. Heard they were turning away walk up ticket sales. I thought Iowa’s marketing department was dumb but Wisky’s asleep at the wheel.

Yeah, you just wish McCaffery wouldn't coach them to suck in those big games. What is he thinking?!?

CC has power?

In full transparency, I've watched about 6 quarters of her time at Iowa.

That's six more quarters of women's hoops than I had watched in my lifetime previously. Baby steps

I hear you and I would admit I fell in that line a long time ago. However, my high school girls team was always good and once I started coaching girls basketball it was completely different. Clark is doing AMAZING things for the game but massive credit needs to go to Jan Jensen. If you want to watch a thing of beauty, watch the post feeds to Hannah Stuelke now but even more the feeds to Gustafson and Czanano. Everything in rhythm and the guards are making passes for the posts to already be going into their shots.

We also are getting some girls to start attacking the rim downhill. Clark can, obviously, but Davis, Martin and Affolter are not 100% consistent but able to do it.
