Cost Iowa the Final Four 32 years ago.

Almost cost Purdue the Elite 8 tonight. Luckily Carson Edwards was fouled (or was he?) on a last second 3 point shot, made 2 of 3 FTs and forced OT.

It was only 18? My memory has been telling me Iowa blew 22 point lead for over 30 years.

I’m sticking with 22. I don’t give a crap what the truth is.

we led by 16 at half and we had the lead up to 18 early in the 2nd half; Bobby Knight was already prepping to face Iowa in the Final Four

We were up 22 in the first half, thats the number that always comes to my mind too when i think of that game.

i forgot about that. 22? really? $hit...... lol
I was wrong coach sorry, biggest lead was 19 points at 54-35. Took a while to figure out since they NEVER showed the score back then. Watching that little stretch its amazing how different the game is now. A couple of really shitty foul calls against Iowa at the end of the half. Lohaus gets called for a foul because he brushed against a guy going for a rebound.

Thankfully I was too young to comprehend the importance of that loss when it happened, 6 years old. I didn’t understand the concept of the tourney, so it was just a loss. But watching stretches of the first half just shows why I fell in love with Iowa b-ball as a kid over the next few years. The athletes, the speed, the scoring, the press when it was effective. Plus the game was just more entertaining to watch because the refs mostly kept the defense off of the offensive players. Yes it slowed the length of the game down because of fouls. But the speed of the game was greatly improved because players had some capability of free movement on offense. Contrast that with JBo constantly having a Tennessee arm grabbing him while dribbling on Sunday. I’ll take the 80’s game, even with the worse shooting overall, over this slow down, grab offensive players all you want, garbage game of the last 20 years.

I am currently looking for my knife and a jar of salt.

Worst f-ing game I've ever had the displeasure of watching and the only game ever that made me physically ill. I refuse to even watch highlights of it and as far as I'm concerned someone could remove it from my memory.

There has been nothing in all of my years watching the Hawks play football or basketball that is even close to the utter disaster of that game. Nothing.Even.Close

I'm not going to debate it, but I didn't think it was a foul - or at least not a call that's usually made at the end of a game.

You, sir, are correct. That was NOT a foul. Period. End of story. At best it was minor incidental contact after the shot. That's BS to let all the mugging go on all game long and then call that to help decide the game. Once again we see that the refs have nothing to do with winning or losing.

I have a strong dislike of Tenn and the SEC, but that was a bogus call. When will Iowa get one of those in its favor in such a huge situation? I've been waiting decades.

Their last game against TENN. Bohannon wasn't fouled, but went to the line for 3 FT.

I remember my dad and I jumping around patting each other on the back at halftime. I was sooo nervous that I shot hoops in the driveway during the break.

Hawks lose and we just sit not talking looking at the t.v as if some answer will show itself that will explain what just happened.

OMG, my younger brother and I went outside to shoot hoops too; we thought it was in the bag

Make sure you never watch the Iowa vs. Jacksonville game from 1970. Iowa Basketball has never been quite the same for me after that game.
