Tonight Cedar Falls defeated 4A #1 Iowa City West 55-54, as UNI recruit A.J. Green went for 36 points for CF. Patrick McCaffery led West with 17, including a three at the buzzwer to make it a one point game.

IC West was the last unbeaten 4A team in the state this year. Still don't know how IC High beat CF earlier, That is Cedar Falls only loss to a team from Iowa. (other 2 losses to Bollingbrook, IL and DeLaSalle in Minneapolis)

Wait... CF lost to City but beat West?? That was the game where Green had a horrible shooting night, right?

And at Dubuque Wahlert a few weeks ago, Cedar Falls and Wahlert were tied with 14 seconds to go in the game, and Wahlert had possession. A reserve Wahlert guard got trapped and called time out. They were out of time outs, so there was a technical and A. J. Green hit two FT and Cedar Falls got possession to end the game. Yes, Cedar Falls has been living on the edge this season, but when they play well, they can beat anybody.

When AJ is hot, CF can beat anyone. However, even though he has a capable supporting cast, there is a lot of standing and watching AJ. Last year against Kennedy McCowen probably played 6-7 different guys on AJ. They wore him out and made the other guys attempt to beat them. AJ is a fantastic player but for CF to make any noise in the postseason they will need a find a way to get the other guys involved.

Local sports writer pegged AJ as the best player in Iowa this year?? Tweeted that he’s the best in the state no doubt.

I wanted to respond, but kept my mouth shut
