Iowa concessions embarrassing

There were only two regular concessions open. My wife and daughter were in line from the 6 min mark in the first half and came back at the under 8 min TO. after finally giving up.

The problem is that I think they are having a hard time finding workers like we saw at ISU.

Only one spot to get raspberry and they run out by half time. Longest line I've ever seen. I waited 40 minutes and got up front just to find out it's just vanilla. I'm ready to go full Karen on them. Is there a manager I can talk to?
Lack of workers and supply chain issues. Get used to it.

Oh and the price of your ice cream is probably gonna go up too.

Semi-related...but at the first Iowa wrestling meet of the year a week ago, with a pretty close to full house, the ice cream lines were ridiculous. If you can't staff it, turn it over to someone who can.

This is a chronic problem and I suspect that they are missing 50%, or more, of their potential sales with such long lines, etc. How hard can it be to set up and staff ice cream stands?

We got in line about 5:20 (actual time) and took about 15 minutes to get through. Very hard working older gentleman working apologized and my son thanked him for working. Guy said they can’t find any help at all to man the stands and was already breathing heavy.

Darn. Now my precious feelings are hurt.

Seems to me the ice cream issue has been going on for years (decades?). If they wanted to fix it, they surely would have by now. Just more of the usual "We Love Our Fans" BS.

So this line sounds only half as long as the men's bathroom lines under the East stands at Kinnick. I'm thinking of starting my own red plastic cup concession next football season.

Quite the interesting bio...I'm just not sure if being a lawyer and former NCAA compliance guy qualifies him to manage the flow of consumers in an ice cream line lol:).

Hey I was in line so I know what we’re all bitching about. But if they can’t find people to work, they can’t find people. And if people want $20/hour to do it so there’s enough staff to handle the demand, guess what that $18 soda and popcorn combo is gonna cost then….

That $18 price tag never had anything to do with the cost of providing the product which probably amounts to around 50 cents and that's being generous.

Wow nothing ever changes in Iowa, does it. Is that 70's rock still playing over the PA as you wait?

My daughter and I went to the Iowa basketball game a few weeks ago on a Friday night. They had Three total concession stands open and we went to get a hotdog with 13 minutes left in the first half. We got back to our seat at the end of halftime

I was at the game and just told my kids prior we would not do any concessions as we would miss half the game. That worked great. It appeared to be a slow moving debacle in the lines. They are missing out on making big chunks of money by not selling more beer/ice cream. I can’t figure out why the University could not pay other groups(students) good amounts of money to run a concession stand. It would still be very profitable. Make it too hard to pass up for students(like $200/game).

Or simply allow the people that run it to own the profits above the net need and costs of the University. If you make 20 an hour that's it. If you are keeping the profit you will bust your ass to sell more

A lot of places are having trouble with help and supply. Look at Iowa State letting fans bring treats in to the stadium. The lost revenue is nothing to sneeze at. So, have to assume they are doing the best they can in this weird environment.
