People, jump on board. Time to demand change. Not taking from Ferentz that he has been a good coach in the past but what we are seeing on the field is similar to the stats you see on an elementary flag football team. As a fan, you know it’s rough when you find yourself highly engaged in the defensive game and use the offensive set for the bathroom breaks. Sadly, the game has surpassed the Ferentz’s.

2007 and 2011-2012 worse than this. The key is what happens in the off-season and next season.

I can't believe some of the whiffs our right guard and tackle make. Tackle looks much slower than even Petras>> LOL
The defender just went right around him on the outside for a sack. Then later the tackle blocks a guy outside, the guard blocks a guy inside (maybe helping the center?) and the defender right in between them had no one in front of him for another sack.
How can this stuff happen. Slowness might explain the first issue, but when you just flat out leave a rusher without anyone blocking him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree

Remind Kirk that there is a transfer portal...
Keep hearing this and they did use it last year. No one wanted to come. They had other offers that they took. Hell, the TE isn't even getting ST reps and he may be grad xfer? No TP offensive player wants any of this offensive staff.

2012 team was better than this team. Weisman rushed for 815 yards at 5.1 ypc. Vandenberg was better than Petras. If a fullback was the leading rusher then that OL was much better.
2007 was also better. Jake the Snake threw for 17 tds. Albert Young and Damian Sims at RB, come on. 2022 is void of any weapons with a bad OL.

I think 1999 was worse but Iowa actually could move the ball on offense. Jeez, pining for the days of Scott Mullen.

Uh, no. Iowa has been much, much worse than they are today.

In terms of the nepotism thing, I found it amusing that Brian was talking in his last press conference about how he needs to buckle down, work harder, do better, etc. I certainly hope Barta doesn't buy the ridiculous concept that Brian needs time for that to happen. This was supposed to be happening over the last 6 years that our offense hasn't ranked better than 90th nationally (was told that by a former Iowa QB -- haven't actually seen the rankings but took his word for it).

No, Brian, the time to buckle down has passed. Now is the time to be held accountable for your poor excuse for an offense. This isn't a time for excuses or promises to do better; now is the time for accountability and changes in employment status. Really hope Barta doesn't decide a few more years are in order for a failed OC to somehow prove himself. That ship has sailed.

Yes, I cannot remember a time when the play has been so poor and the majority of fans seem really frustrated.

Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. All of the quarterbacks in the program are pro-style quarterbacks, the o-line has gotten worse as the season has progressed and they were all probably overrated based on recruiting rankings and it wouldn’t be surprising to see skill players on offense will hit the portal.
