Iowa has missed 29 free throws in last three games...

I mean I agree with everyone about how this is typical Iowa. Get us excited then snap us back to reality but the last thing I want to see right now is 50 posts from this guy

I don't see missing 10 free throws in the Penn State game as a big deal. Of course, Iowa could have used a few of those misses to obtain the win, but they shot 35. Hitting 25 of 35 is still respectable for most teams.

Truth be told, Iowa made a living at the free throw line tonight, and that's the only thing that kept them in the game.

yes but how many of those Ft's were at a crucial time in the game. I counted at least 3 different times Iowa as at the line able to cut the deficit to 2 or 1 and they missed. PSU would rush down and shoot a 3 and the lead would go up to 4 or 5 then.

I expect Freshman to miss FT's, but when your All American Seniors are missing, then its an issue. I remember a Memphis team a few years back who struggled at the FT line. Ended up costing them a National Title. I think the FT costed Iowa a BTT.

And how many were MGs
According to ESPN....3 OF THEM!!! Yes only 10-11%!

Agreed. Seemed like the last 5 minutes or so. We'd shoot 2 and hit 1 and then PSU would end up shooting 2 and hit 2.

Everyone seems to want a team to shoot 70% from FT line.....71% tonight

I would like to see a team shoot FT's in crunch time better. Iowa missed a lot of those FT's in the 2nd half. That's the issue, Iowa can shoot 70-80%, but when it comes to crunch time, they shoot around 40-50%. It pathetic, because its mainly seniors shooting those. Pretty sad when your 7-1 center is one of your better FT shooters!

Yep makes sense to make them in crunch time. No doubt about it!! Didn't happen tonight though even with our best player. Bummer of a loss.

Actually putting Iowa at the line was PSU best defense. Half the time they never got a chance to get shots off let alone get into a rythm and couldn't knock down more than 1 out of 2 the last 5 minutes.

This teams freethrow shooting is ridiculous for a team that relys on out side shooting as much as they do. Woodbury is the only guy who doesn't choke at the line.

Those reffs called as ticky tack of a game as I think Ive ever seen. The whole game was just freethrow shooting.

57 freethrow attempts in a game is crazy.

Im all for the freedom of movement but over half those fouls had no effect on anything.

It ruined the game.

Even though we got to line a lot in 2nd half, I thought it was fools gold. All the fouls being called meant PSU ended up shooting FTs instead of having to make baskets. Iowa is mediocre FT shooting team and PSU, at least this game, was very good.

Agree, all the foul calls were as big of a reason for the loss as any IMO.

I have never in my life seen a team that shoots so well from the outside be so bad at freethrow shooting but its the reality of the situation.

Iowa was never able to get into an offensive rhythm because both teams were shooting freethrows the whole time.

The freethrow thing has to change or they aren't going to make it out of the first weekend in march. Theres no excuse for it.
