If you think about it...we are in the championship game. NO MATTER WHAT. Play agressively. Take chances. Nebraska should be walking on eggshells. If they lose they are not going to a bowl game. Capitalize on this. Pull the stops out...they have everything to lose...we have not so much. Great scenario!

Agreed. This team is grounded, just be themselves. Here's to an undefeated season...

Iowa has a spot in the College Football Playoff on the line. I'd say Iowa has everything to lose.

Agreed, but no reason to think it'll matter to the Hawks. They've been pretty fearless all year. And, if teams circle games, no doubt this one was among them (along with ISU, Wiscy, and Minny).

But not in the playoffs unless undefeated therefore everything to lose.

Conversely, Iowa has everything to lose. A loss to NE and underdogs in the championship game, Iowa could end up in a another "good not great" bowl game. However, win and it sets up the most memorable season in program history.

NE is the one with nothing to lose. They have a crappy season regardless.

While there is a lot on the line, Iowa needs to play loose. The national respect seems lacking for Iowa seeing that they are 1 of 2 undefeated teams. I am sure there is extra motivation after the game last year. I hope Iowa plays to win and not revert back to playing to not lose....

All the trophy games were circled since all were losses last year.

Nebraska has nothing to lose. Nebraska is actually most likely going to a bowl this year. There are too many bowl slots, so the bowls will have to take 5-7 teams. They do this by selecting teams with the highest APR. Nebraksa has the highest APR of team that would be 5-7. So if any 5-7 teams get selected, Nebraska would be first in line.

Iowa has everything on the line, aka a chance at a national title.

I would agree with the sentiment that EVERYTHING is on the line. You don't have a chance at a national championship and not say anything is on the line.

Debbie has more to play for, and will be tighter. Their entire fanbase and players' season and sense of self worth is on the line. #Superbowl

Hawks playing for the B10 title regardless.

I think some some of us Hawk fans are nervous and pretend to think this isn't as big of a game as it really is.. Probably last time in 20-30 years we have this opportunity.. Who knows but yeah this is basically it!

While I agree, I like to think some of the non-trophy games were circled too. For example, Purdue. I don't know why, but I hate Purdue. And I have always hated Purdue. I'm sure some of the players get it, even if you don't.

First opportunity ever to go 12-0. Very big deal. Tough opponent at their prestigious stadium in a game that will finish under the lights. Fearless Hawkeyes. On Iowa!

If ND loses against Stanford, I think the winner of the Big Ten Championship game is in the playoff regardless. Even if we lose to Nebraska. I don't think we will lose though.

Maybe, but Iowa hasn't been getting a ton of respect all year long. If Iowa falls in Lincoln I don't see the committee choosing Iowa for the playoff if they rebound in Indy

I predicted Iowa to be 7-5 this year. I didnt' think in a 100 years that Iowa would be in this situation. This season has been an awesome ride and I could care less how it ends. Its been a fun ride and this team is fun to watch.

According to all the talking heads Iowa isn't in the top 6 after this week, so who cares what happens in Lincoln. If we end the year 10-2 we will be in a news years day 6 bowl.

I'm confident the Iowa coaches and players won't be approaching the NE game as if there's anything to lose. Instead, I'm pretty sure they'll focus on what there is to gain. They have a massive opportunity in front of them -- a lofty goal to pursue. They're in an extremely enviable position. They also surely realize that the best way to fall short of their goals is to play tight and/or quit attacking like they've done for most of the season. Their best shot at beating NE and winning the B1G championship game will be to let it all hang out -- and I'm sure they realize that. I look for Iowa to come out aggressive and having fun next Friday, and in Indy.

Well, it's doubtful the committee would take a two-loss ND or a two loss Pac 12 champ or two teams from the same conference, not justified at all this year. Conference champ is very important to the committee so a 1 loss Big Ten Champ would be in, imo. Who else are they going to take? choices

1. 1 loss Big Ten Champ.
2. 2 loss Pac 12 Champ.
3. 2 loss ND
4. two teams from Big 12 (both with 1 loss or more)
5. two teams from SEC (both with 1 loss or more)

Absolutel. Luckily, none of us have an impact on the outcome.

There are 2 ways of looking at this question. If you look at expectations from the beginning of the year. Iowa is playing with house money. If you are looking at things with an adjusted expectations of having a very realistic shot at the CFB playoffs. We have a shit ton to lose.

These are the big games coming up, the type of games players dream about, and the goal. Big for Iowa, primarily because only Nebraska stands in the way of an undefeated (regular) season. Hawkeyes will do what they do and, one way or another, find a way to finish the game 12-0.

This is fun.

This team would forever be my all time favorite if they can finish 12 and 0. Icing on the cake would be a big ten title, out right. Would be absolutely flat out incredible what this team has accomplished. Week in week out. Nebby is a decent team, if they play to their potential they a good club. They just don't have the substance to play week in week out. We are champions and they are not.

I don't know who will be the looser team, but WTF? Iowa has WAY more to lose, or shall I say much more to GAIN by winning this game.

Yes, the Hawkeyes have achieved more than most expected, but holy crap this is the opportunity of a lifetime!
