Iowa Hawkeyes Release 2017-18 Wrestling Schedule

I like the Friday night scheduling, but not the Rider match as that conflicts with the timing of the Nebraska game and for those of us who attend away games.

Selfishly, I wish there would be some west coast travel on the schedule some year. Maybe some year Reno or Vegas will be an option if they aren't close to Midlands.

Either way, only a few more months until the season kicks off!

What will be the biggest matchups you will be waiting for on individual side?

Lee vs Tomasello, Lizak, Piccinnini. I think we should go all in, he'll be good to go by Midlands. I think the combination of his amazing neutral skills paired with his beastly mat skills allows him to bonus almost everybody in this weight except for a few people. Call me a crazy homer if you want. I also don't think size will be an issue. Darian Cruz was a True Frosh AA at 125 while walking around at 118-120ish (heard that from Cruz himself on JB's podcast). Lee is already bigger than Cruz was, and has been described by many as 'freakishly strong'. I think he can take Tomasello who may struggle with the cut, whereas Lee will be fresh with an easier cut.

Laux vs any ranked opponent. If they go all in this year, would like to potentially see Murin go here, depending on his progression in the room. Very well could surpass Laux by Midlands.

Turk/Happel vs Hayes, Lee/Cortez. I'm thinking Turk takes the spot here, haven't really seen a whole lot (if any) healthy Vince Turk against quality competition, so hopefully we get to see what he truly brings to the table this season.

Sorensen vs Mckenna, Retherford (hoping its more like the dual meet instead of the NCAA semis :p )

Kemerer vs Jordan, Nolf (hopefully closing the gap), Pantaleo. Kemerer is so good already, I'm anxious to see how much he's progressed this off season.

Marinelli vs Joseph, Campbell, Massa, IMAR (hopefully closing the gap on his future HWC teammate :))

Young vs Amine, BoJo, Hall, Smith. Youngs progress has been on a steady upward curve, and I think he progresses throughout the whole season.

*Side note: Both Marinelli and Young will face the top 3 finishers at their weights last season in the B1G Duals. Lee would also face the 2-3(@ 133)-4 if he did go.

Wilcke vs Nickal, Martin, Abounader. Just like young wanna see where Wilcke falls in the pecking order at 184, he has the athleticism to go with these guys he just can't wait around as much as this past season.

PD3 vs Moore, McCutcheon, Weigel, Beazley. Wanna see how PD3 stacks up against the rest of the field. I predict lots of bonus points this season for PD3HAWK.

Stoll vs Coon, Snyder, Nevills. Hoping his knee is as good as ever, I want to see how he stacks up in the top 6. I don't see him finisher any lower than 6th if he remains healthy.
