Good luck to Jack Nunge and CJ Fredrick as they fight for a sweet sixteen today. Once a hawk, always a hawk!

Absolutely supporting Jack. That guy deserves this!! CJ is NOT. Hawk in my book. Sorry.
Why not? Because he was upset that he was on a team with the college player of the year, another nba guy, a lottery pick, a first round nba draft pick and a great shooter and we had no point guard, and left. 🤷‍♂️

Jack: yes, CJ: no.

Jack left for understandable personal reasons and was totally professional and upfront in his treating his teammates and staff.

CJ and his uncle lied to his teammates and staff while engineering a transfer to KY behind their backs. I don't blame him for transferring per se, it was the way they did it.

Why did CJ transfer? What was Fran and co so mad about?

As it turns out dumping a program where the coach is only competent on one side of the ball and who puts his kids over what's best the program was a really smart move for both of them. Go figure
That sadly describes iowa football and basketball perfectly 🤦‍♂️

I've hoped for the best for Nunge. I don't know if what I'm seeing is typical in this Pitt game, but if it is he could have been a big difference maker.

Think I'm gonna modify the old Cleveland State NCAA punishment joke for Iowa. Everytime something goes down involving a Ferentz or McCaffrey, 'well I guess the U of I should go fire the women's field hockey coach for this'. Or, quite literally the strength coach....

They both are in a better place and still playing unlike the Hawkeyes as usual.
Meh. CJF has been injury riddled and is reduced to coming off the bench. Congrats for wanting to just be a part of a team full of top recruits so that you can say you were a winner too!!! :D

I could also decide to become a Kentucky fan and claim all their national titles and claim that as part of my fan experience. 😁

But unfortunately I like to torture myself by watching/supporting teams that disappoint their fanbases each year and do nothing to keep that from happening each subsequent. season..............

CJF wanted to be the fat kid at the end of the bench that was part of an all star team rather than go down with the ship and his friends on a losing team.................Nunge did it the right way. That's why most Iowa fans actually care about how he does at Xavier.

Just sayin.

It’s like in the movie Casablanca, “Round up the usual suspects.” 😊

I believe CJ's dream school was to play at KY growing up in Cincy OH and attending school across the river in KY. That's fine, don't blame the kid at all.

What isn't acceptable IMO is having your uncle tweeting to KY fans as early as Feb that "help is on the way" and CJ and uncle (who Fran had a personal relationship from their days at ND) lying to him up to the last minute until CJ bolted out of town. The result being that Fran couldn't plan for recruiting purposes. That is why Fran and staff were so upset about as I understand it.

This in a nutshell. Leaving for Kentucky was one thing. Bending the coach over and lying about it up until the last minute, not to mention flirting with them while we were still playing , ah, NO........

LOL!! Lets just say I have my reasons. Glad for him that he is where he wants to be. But, he is NOT a Hawk. That is more absurd then you know.

So did everyone who transferred out get farther in the tournament with their new team than the current Hawkeyes did?

I don't like how he handled it either but even if CJ told Fran in January he was transferring and quit the team let's not act like Fran's roster would have been any different given his record of striking out in the portal and with recruits that didn't grow up Iowa fans.
