It was pretty easy to pick out the d1 player as Cody Fox last week for the Grundy Center game. There is some talent down in class A this year.

Harlan and MV
Williamsburg and OABCIG
West Branch and WSH
Britt and Grundy Center
Newell Fonda and SMR

Van Meter has outscored their two playoff opponents by almost 95 points and the only loss duri g the season was to number one rated class two A team. They've had an unreal five year stretch.
Go blue!!

Eastern Iowa big class represent. SMDH, wow we suck at high school football now.
My school district, North Scott repping but that's about it. Eastern Iowa football has really fallen off over the last 5 or so years

I know I asked about that last year, what the hell happened to the Quad cities in football. When I played in the mid to late 70's Either West or Central was in the title game almost every year against a Des Moines school and Bettendorf was an up and coming school

Western Iowa representing!

Out of those teams, I’m most familiar with Woodbury Central, Underwood and Harlan. Harlan is ridiculously good. Their only loss was to 4A’s Lewis Central. Iowa commit Aiden Hall is a stud.

Woodbury Central. My son’s HS team took WC to overtime a few weeks ago. Tri-Center was a playoff team, but then lost in the first round to Gehlen Catholic. Either they had a poor performance against us, or quite possibly we have their number as we beat them in the regular season last year. Grundy Center won easily last year and I expect the same this year.

Underwood. Another team my Tri-Center team faced earlier this Fall. Their only loss was to 4A Lewis Central. Yes, that’s right, a 1A school played a 4A, semi final team. They only lost by 15. For a 1A school, they have a 3A/4A size line, veteran QB and speed at RB and WR. This is Underwood’s year.

Grundy won last year at what? Definitely not the title game. They lost in brutal fashion with the clock running out when they were in the redzone.

Wait, when did they make a Class 5A? Used to be 4A was the largest class.
Last year maybe?......

Worth it, but also it was never meant to really change things at the top.

Certain classes below 5A were just getting log-jammed with teams, and this just helps to balance things out a bit more, even if it might mean a little more traveling as well. And it also gets some of the smallest would-be 4A schools out from under the DSM suburb domination in 5A.

This is just a cluster. How about 3/4 classes for some real competition.
Dowling will win it again yawn
Xavier recruits well yawn
Harlan will clock run everyone is 3A which is really 1A now yawn
Van Meter/Waukee JV yawn
Grundy Center yawn
Remsen 8 man two yawns make it three

Well maybe those young men should have stayed there and made one of two teams from Waukee better. With two teams there now I don't think there is as much transferring done as you would think. Also, VM's rapidly growing population would make transferring all that easy anymore.
