The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported on the Carver Hawkeye Arena turnout for men’s and women’s basketball this year compared to women’s turnout last year, noting the differences between tickets sold and tickets actually scanned to get into the game. I made a quick chart based on their numbers with percentages rounded off.



One other bit of analysis: the percentage of purchased tickets that were actually used (scanned).
Men 2024-25……………………..55% of purchased tickets were used.
Women 2024-25……………..….65% of purchased tickets were used.
Women 2023-24……………..….72% of purchased tickets were used.

For example, I did attend the men's home against MSU. It was more like 10k.

The tickets scanned for USC was below 14k, which leads me to believe that the bigger games lose some tickets scanned due to more media credentials handed out, and more insider seats where the seat is never sold and scanned, but a person sits in it for the game.

Here is article. Missouri Western was the only WBB game with less than half the tickets scanned, and brought down the average quite a bit.

As an aside, along with having my ticket scanned, now we go through metal detectors at Carver. More than once, I've walked through with my pocket knife still in my pocket with nothing happening. My bad.

I have never seen so many security people at women's basketball games as I have this year. Best security has over hired.
