Looking at some of the early season stats for Boys Basketball.

Josh Dix 6'5" Sr Guard (Iowa Commit)
20.3 ppg 9.3 rpg 5.8 apg 2.5 spg 2.3 bpg 1.3 to/g 59.7% FG's (46/77) 32.3% 3pts (10/31) 58.8% FT (20/34)

overall playing well and has team at 6-0, but his 3pt and FT shooting are not where he's been. Pick up the shooting and he's a Mr. Basketball of Iowa

Jack McCaffery 6'8" Fr Forward (future Iowa commit)
14.4 ppg 6.4 rpg 1.6 apg 1.2 spg 1.0 bpg 2.6 to/g 2.4 fpg 61.9% FG (26/42) 55.2% 3pts (16/29) 81.0% FT (4/5)

Clearly the best shooting McCaffery.... he's playing his role on deep/talented West High team as a Freshman. Ball security and fouling need to improve but really a complete ball player

Cameron Fens 6'11" Sr Center (Dubuque Hempstead)
18.5ppg 10.0 rpg 0.8 apg 0.3 spg 3.3 bpg 1.5 to/g 1.8 fpg 59.2% FG (29/49) 33.3% 3pts (1/3) 55.6% FT (15/27)

Big boddied post

And for the file away to see how this kid develops....

Tyron Wright 6'6" Soph Forward - Des Moines East
10.3 ppg 14.8 rpg 1.0 apg 0.5 spg 0.8 bpg 2.5 to/g 3.0 fpg

in just 4 games what JUMPS out is his rebounding. 29 ORB and 30 DRB in just 4 games. He's a beast on the backboards (a young Reggie Evans)

Damn, Dix is actually not as great of a 3P or FT shooter as I originally thought. That’s kind of disappointing, but it’s not like he’s unwilling to shoot. I’m sure he will improve at Iowa, and he’s a very talented slasher that plays both ways.

those numbers are not the norm. Just 6 games to start the season, plenty of time to get into a groove.

his Fr/Soph/Jr numbers:

137 / 329 41.6% from 3

144 / 196 73.5% from FT Line

Ah thanks for that. I feel much better I should have done some deeper research

Lucas Lorenzen of Okoboji. I saw at one point he was leading the state averaging 35.3 a game. I'm not sure if he is a D1 talent though.

Can’t find the stats for the younger Wiesy, but he’s playing on a horrible Muscatine team this year as a freshman. Will be interesting to see how he develops.

He's a freshman starting for a 4A school in a tough conference. I'd give it more than just a handful of games to make any judgement of his game.
Yeah, averaging basically 10 and 5 with 2 blocks per game isn't that bad for a freshman playing 4A. He's #2 in scoring and #1 in rebounding for that team. Considering how bad Muscatine is, the best way to look at it is to not use raw numbers. Instead look at how he is doing compared to his teammates. He's scoring .5 points per game fewer than a senior teammate. And the team is only averaging 46 points, meaning he's averaging 22% of his team's points. He does need to improve his shooting though as the averages aren't good.

I’m just hoping Luke grows to be like 6’8/6’9” and has the same skills as his brother. Seems like he already has a knack for rebounding and is 6’5” already as a freshmen. That would be awesome 😳

I didn't pass any judgement of his game, just looking at the numbers he's off to a not so good start. Shooting at a very low percentage. But I'm sure by senior year he'll be a killer.
