It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!

Not that rankings mean anything, but I'd love to hear the rationale for Marinelli at 2 above the field of returning AA's.

I doubt they are docking him for the MFF at natty's. So his true loss was to Griffith who won it. Not saying I agree/disagree but I can follow their logic.

He has beat a lot of those guys in the past and is a 3 time big ten winner at the weight. Has beaten Wick a bunch in the past. Medical forfeit out of the tournament last year after a close match with the champ.

Not sure I would have him at 2, but he also got injured in the match that he lost to the champ

Fair point, and I do know the flo guys (and willy) have a certain mindset on injuries. I certainly think he should be ranked, and high, but ahead of anyone who placed top 4 last year at least seems a little suspect to me, especially after some or the world level success guys like keegan otoole just had right after placing high at ncaas (higher than any of marinelli's finishes actually).
Don't feed the trolls!

Scruddy went fishing and caught a bunch.
Fake news, I thought it was a legit convo to have.

Another question on the rankings, does a 149 yianni improve or hurt the hawks scoring chances? It is certainly one less road block for eirmann, but with him and Tariq moving up to 149 is there no room left for murin to earn any hardware?

Well, I love seeing nearly a 20 point gap between us and Pedo. That is with Murin ranked 12th (Can possibly do better) and Nelson Brands at 84, who may not even be at that weight. Also, Young at 6th.

Ahhh, did not know that. Looks like its much closer.
Closer but still a pretty good margin. It may all come down to how Marinelli performs. The other team members are all pretty consistent with performance/rankings so not a ton will change. Need Marinelli to perform and/or get some scoring performance out of 184. Any chance brands/Assad is still being discussed or is it assad's spot to lose at this point?

Interesting question.

To decide if Yianni at 41 would be better/worse all depends upon seeding at Nationals. If it ends up as Lee and Yianni on the same side of the bracket, better for Iowa. If Eierman and Yianni are on the same side, worse.

149 is a bit different, depending on your view of Murin. I personally feel that apart from Yianni and Sasso(TBD on Wilson) there isn't much separation of the next 10 wrestlers. Murin will still have to beat the same level of competition in either the quarterfinals or the wrestlebacks to AA. Whether Yianni is in the bracket or not doesn't really change this much, if at all.
