The Hawks got off to a good start yesterday in the men's semifinal round of the NCAA track meet out at the New Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Best performances were in the 110 High Hurdles, where Jaylon McConico won his semi-final heat. Jamal Britt finished second in his semi-final, so both will be in finals Friday night. McConico had the third fastest time of the night, and is definitely one of the favorites going into the finals.

The 4x400 meter relay stepped up and took second on their heat, behind the predominant favorite North Carolina A&T. They will also be in the finals on Friday, going in with the fourth fastest time from the semi's.

Wayne Lawrence was 10th fastest in the 400 semis. and James Carter finished 10th in the long jump. Britt also finished 20th in the 400 hurdles. Nathan Mylenek was 21st in the Steeplechase. And Iowa's 4x100 finished 14th in the semis, which does not get them to the finals but was way higher than what most would have expected based on their times from earlier this year.

The Decathlon is in day 2 currently. Will Daniels is among the leaders, which is impressive considering he transferred in from Central after he won the DIvision III title in 2019. Unfortunately Austin West got hurt yesterday and had to drop out of the competition.

Top 10 team finish is still possible, but will need strong performances in the high hurdles.

Women semifinals get started tonight. Hawks will have Tausauga and Kat Moody in the shot put today.
