Several prognosticators have the Iowa Hawkeye men tabbed as a
4 seed currently. There is a lot of season left, obviously, however,
Hawkeyes are playing some great basketball.

The Iowa Women, with a win over Ohio State last night were already tabbed as a
4 seed in the ESPN bracketology. They may move up soon !!

Not so fast, my friend..........
Go hawks...........how many wins were you picking, so far?
My guess is you were NOT 14-5;

I was actually much more optimistic than most. I felt as though we should make the tournament this year and if not we needed to seriously assess Fran’s approach and future. I didn’t expect to beat Syracuse or Texas Tech but I also expected to beat Depaul and Nebraska.

If you go back to October or November I was very optimistic that this team would make the NCAA tournament.....but then, that was before the injury to Nunge, Bohannan opting to have surgery on his other hip and Patrick being shut down.
Most on here were bummed by the lost of Cook and Moss not realizing that both of them were a defensive black holes and that's not just my opinion.
People wonder in amazement of Garza's improvement over the last 2 years, yes he has worked hard in improving his body and mind, but the biggest reason for he's improvement is Cook is no longer on this team. Cook was all about Cook and getting to the NBA and if you want prove just slide over to youtube and watch some of the past games that you can watch on there. Once Cook had the ball in his hands, Cook had one mission on his mind and that's taking it to rack whether it meant going through someone or not. He had no mid range game and in 3 years he was 3 for 21 from beyond the arc. There's a reason no one guarded him out there...
Cook was the featured player on the Iowa team last year and it was by design and approved by Franny. Garza was there to pull defenses away from Cook and that's why Garza spent most of his court time out on the perimeter. Now that Garza has all the space he needs to show off his offensive skills you see the results of having no Cook, Garza is the benefactor of Cooks absents whether you believe it or not.....It's simple addition by subtraction....

If you look at our schedule common sense would tell you that we are going to fall off a bit in February.
Nope. Bohannon is secretly plotting a Willis Reed moment, emerging from the tunnel, Hawks down 10 early second half versus Ohio State, promptly checks in and drains a 29-footer causing the fat kid in Caleb Wesson to re-emerge as he drops his head and strolls up the nearest aisle to drown himself in the siren song warm blanket of Carver-Hawkeye soft serve.
