This year we've given up 14 sacks and 48 tackles for loss in 6 games. 48 tackles for loss is the 6th worst in the country. That's 2.5 sacks, and 8 TFL every game. I have to think an average of 8 TFL given up per game is the highest in the Ferentz era through 6 games.
If those numbers drop to even 1.5 and 4 we'll convert 15% more of our third downs. I believe the numbers will drop and the line will "gel".
If that happens, it bodes very well for the future, particularly against teams like Ohio St in the BTT, and anyone we possibly see in the playoff. In the event of a drive stalled it will likely be a punt from closer to midfield giving Tory Taylor a chance to consistently pin the opponent somewhere in their own 10 yard line.
