The point is, Okie State already has a large fan base, especially when Iowa comes to town. Moving to a venue in a "wrestling area" outside of Okie State would be foolish for the Cowboys. A 4 hour drive is not a "home meet" but John Smith knows his fans will make the trip. Even though the state of Texas does not have a D1 wrestling team, the local media will now cover the event and it will create exposure to millions who may not have ever seen a news story etc. on college wrestling. Plus, Texas does have their share of studs coming from there, Bo Nickel, Brandon Slay, Tervel Dlagnev.... Plus, Texas was the first state to embrace girls high school wrestling. It is about growing the spot. Think NHL in warm weather cities etc. Someone will attend, and their kid will decide they are going to be a wrestler. This will be duplicated several times during the event.
John Smith sees the bigger picture over hosting his home meet in Stillwater vs Iowa, and promoting the sport is bigger. Plus, it is another opportunity for his team to be front and center in the wrestling world, same as Grapple On The Gridiron Was. Good for John Smith for moving his home meet to Arlington.
