Iowa-OSU Battle at the Ballpark - TV?

It’s absolutely horrible for wrestling that one of the marquee duals is on a streaming service that costs $150
Subscribe to FloFootball or FloMarching or one of their not popular verticals and you can get it monthly.

If they had this dual in 1999 how would you have watched it? You would have flown down there to see it in person or you wouldn’t have seen it.

I concur. I personally like Flo but for those who don't have money to spare it does get a bit pricey getting various accesses. That said, I'm glad B10 Network has stepped up to the plate...prevented me from having to purchase B10 plus for 14.95/mo.

It would’ve been on IPTV

Possible, but probably not. It was rather rare for them to cover an event out of state. And even if it was, most of their coverage was on tape delay. Which would have been fun.

Isn’t Flo the one putting on the event? If so it’s what subscriptions pay for….the dual is happening because of Flo perhaps..

Well, if Flo did not exist Iowa would still be wrestling OSU. It would just be in Stillwater.

And it would be…wait for it…on a pay service.

College wrestling is no different than other college Olympic sports in this regard.

This. It’s where the famous Frayer/Zadick match happened.
The Frayer v Zadick match actually happened at the National Duals in Columbus (Ohio State).

Zadick and Frayer wrestled, but the fantabulous comeback win was in Columbus.

The Lone Star Duals was where Doug Schwab had a great comeback win against Michael Lightner… the first of

I was replying to a poster who said the dual was only happening because Flo was putting it on.

I would pay for a PPV, or a monthly fee, but Flo's "charge you for a year" practice probably costs them more in the long run than it makes them. People that would pay two or three times a year to see certain content won't, and then they get $0 from them, when they could be making $40 - 75 from hundreds or thousands of people. They just don't put out enough content that I'm interested in (and even less since Willie left and B10 ditched them) to pay $150+ for it. I know in this day and age $150 isn't much money, but I now live on a more fixed (and shrinking with inflation rates) income, and my wrestling dollars are limited, so I have to be choosy where I spend them, and Flo doesn't make the cut at this time. I guess I'll listen to Ironside and Grace (or Grace and whomever).

That is the relentless, make it miserable for your opponent, Iowa style wrestling that I grew up watching and loving. Thanks for posting Chief. That is why I like Austin so much as he is the same style. Ironside's match against Kolat was about as good as it gets as well.

Flo could easily do a one-time charge for this event if they wanted. I’d pay $30-40, but zero chance will I pay more for a single event video stream than a ticket to actually walk in the gate would cost. They’re pretty low-rent production wise compared to BTN obviously, and it’s bold to ask for $150 for a broadcast that looks and sounds like it’s being put on by the local community college’s mass media students.

Flo is leaving a LOT of money on the table by requiring a full year sub, but it’s a privately owned business and it’s their right to do so.

Someone posted that you could sign up for one of flo's other channels that does monthly and still watch this. I don't know if it's correct, but worth looking into.

Yes! My bad. We were actually at both and misremembered. Thanks for the correction.

When Zadick knocked off top seed Reggie Wright of Oklahoma State in the 2001 National Tournament it was one of the loudest moments I can ever remember being at Carver.
One of my top 5 all time favorite matches. Possibly top 3.

Can't comment on the subscription process for the other verticals but any Flo subscription gives you access to all 25 Flo verticals.

Flo has become more of a racing platform than wrestling. There is much more money in that.

I agree with you. I love college wrestling but I don't really watch International or Olympic wrestling, free style events, etc., etc.. I really only want to subscribe for 4-5 months while the college season is going but they don't have that option and I can't talk myself into paying for a whole year and only watching it less than half of that time... I wish they had a monthly option.... Maybe someday...

this has always been my beef with FLO....this event was put together to provide exposure for wrestling and a ton of people who might have watched can’t without paying for a years subscription

if the goal of this is to introduce more fans to the sport it ain’t happening.... FLO subscribers are already wrestling fans
