Yeah, I think the two are vaguely linked. It's the game of 'who blinks first'. Iowa might have to 'blink', depending on Sunday's dual. I'd bet a last second decision.
brock will have a hard time getting out from bottom. i think that will be the difference in that match. clark has a strong top game and brock bottom game has been a weakness
And hopefully this year he will improve from last year's amazing run through the consolation rounds to achieve AA status. There's no question about his talent...would just like to see him get more aggressive in the beginning of matches against the quality opponents.
I'd almost like to see them do it. The quicker he starts using up eligibility, the better. Yes, he has 5 years to compete 4 no matter how you slice it, but once they pull the shirt on a guy like him, you figure they're unlikely to sit him some other year. The fewer years Hall is around while Lee and co. are competing, the better.
Personally I don't think Carl's decision lies with Brands pulling AM shirt or not. I think he has more to worry about from OSU regarding the team title. If OSU wrestles come tourney time then PSU will need Hall to make sure of a title in my opinion.
that's true but I would also expect hall to take an Olympic redshirt when 2020 rolls around. It would be in Iowa's best interest for them to pull hall's shirt now because then his 4 years would be up prior to 2020 Olympics, unless for some reason he takes a redshirt year somewhere in the middle of his 4 years, then he could take an gray shirt and return to the psu lineup for 2021-2022 season
Good point about the Olympic redshirt year. It could end up seeming like that dude's at PSU for a decade.
Probably size discrepancy and Stoll's abilities on top. I think it's just a decision personally.
Schafer is undersized and Stoll is a pinner. It's just a prediction.

I don't think the team race factors into the AM redshirt decision. I don't think Tom and Terry work like that - it's all about what's best for the wrestler.
ya they could have a couple of guys like hall, nick lee, and others who im forgetting could be there for 6 years if they take a redshirt, grayshirt, and then their 4 years of eligibility. But the same can be said for us as well with Spencer, Gavin, and Warner.
