Iowa Ranked 9th for Most Wins vs AP Top 25 Teams in Past 5 Seasons

We gonna make a run with all those top recruits we didn't get?
Fran has won a B10 tournament championship without getting top 25 recruits, he's in the TOP 10 in the NATION for the last FIVE YEARS for wins against top 25 teams, he's on a run of 4 consecutive years with 20 wins or more per season and won 26 last year.....the second most in school history?

So yeah, the program is on an upward trajectory without landing those "top recruits"......you're probably saying the same thing that most of us were after losing out on Xavier Foster.

I think it's great that McCaffery does more with less. I'd just like to see him do more with more for a change.
Yep….it’s my impression that we are building more quality depth through the recruiting process and that will push us to higher levels of success. I like that Fran continues to relentlessly pursue the higher level recruits and feel like that will at some point pay off….hopefully soon

Iowa can't have nice things though. We're not going to a Sweet 16, while everyone gets just as rich if not richer, anytime soon

Shit ton of overrated b1g teams
A legitimate if perhaps oversimplified take.

An analysis based on kenpom/torvik data (instead of AP sportswriters' opinions) starting in January would no doubt produce different results. I would like to see it but I'm too lazy to do it.

It does help that every other night you are playing a ranked team.
Not if you lose. You still have to win or this isn't even a stat involving Iowa. It's silly to downplay this as an accomplishment. Its just like the posters on the football page saying we haven't beaten anyone of note under KF the last decade, and yet we are 5-1 in the last 6 games at Kinnick against teams in the top FIVE in the AP poll. (By the way, the ONE loss was to PSU by ONE point on the last play of the game). Its silly to just brush that aside. Other then MAYBE OSU, I'd be willing to bet there isn't another team in the BIG who can match that in their last 6 games against top 5 teams......

ok

Wasn't my response directed at the Big10 having 25% of the top teams in this stat and nothing related to Iowa specifically?

But thanks for the lesson on Iowa football - very informative.

Yes a conference like the Big10 is going to have many more than most because there are so many good, ranked, teams - just like this is not a ranking that Gonzaga needs to worry about every making.
