Iowa Recruiting Wishlist 2018 - 2020

This meltdown by a few of us, me included, will go down in the annals. A teenager had to change his Twitter bio to calm down allegedly mature adults.

Haha...looks like Teasdale doesn't just like rolling folks on the mat

I've heard very different.

He looks to be a 25/33 bc he doesn't cut much to make 120. Is he beating out spencer or Teasdale? My guess would be there is only so much much money to go around and Iowa wouldn't have much to offer.

Iowa has always been the type to recruit the best regardless of weight, and let the chips fall where they may. I wouldn't think Iowa would offer much $, no. However I've heard from a good source that Teske likes Iowa. If he wants to come to Iowa, I'm guessing Iowa would take him.

I agree. I don't think Iowa would turn down a walk on that is a Fargo runner up and 4x Iowa state champion.

I'm guessing he wouldn't be a walk-on either. Keep in mind he made a unofficial visit with Drew Bennett after Iowa got verbals from Lee, & Teasdale. Would I predict him going to Iowa, no. However, there is more of a chance in my mind than the people already saying he won't. He hasn't committed anywhere, so there is a chance is my only point. Just playing devil's advocate, and also trying to keep people who don't know for sure from acting like they do.

Got it. I saw the unofficial. It's not going to happen.

Oklahoma has been big on him in the past. I would even take a closer look considering it's Roselli that's there.

Not that Oklahoma won't be interested, but a lot of that interest was Cody. He, and an old FD assistant coach are close friends. They offered Cook a full ride in total.

To this point, here's a video of Brayton Lee wrestling newest HR crush Sammy Sasso. A lot to be impressed about by Lee in this match!

Brayton Lee has Hawkeye written all over him. He just won his 2nd state title in 3 years. He's 131-1 and hasn't lost since he was upset in the semi-state ticket round his Freshman year. The kid is a savage and keeps improving.

There has been communication between him and our staff. He's an under the radar hammer.

Somebody ought to get after Kennedy from KM. He just toys with his opponents. As a 9th grader ranked #1 at 170 in AA. Could easily be a 197 in a few years.

I think Iowa has a lot of scholly money tied up, so real doubtful they could get both Sasso and Lee. Probably one or the other.

Care to explain to us HOW MUCH money is tied up?

That would help us understand your statement so much better..........

Well, Stoll, Kemerer, Marinelli, Lee, Warner and Teasdale should all be getting big schollies, with several likely to have full schollies. I would expect Young, Murin and Troy are getting some signficant money. I just don't think they have room to hand out two more big schollies to the 2018 class. Maybe, there is a hidden slush fund that I don't know about. :)

Would be surprised if he got that big. Probably a 152/160 pounder this year if it made sense for the team. I see him falling in the 174-184 realm. Obviously just going off the eye test

Patrick has had a great year, several highlights, one being his 5-3 over Sr State Champ Brock Jennings of Osage. Patrick's lone loss to a SR ranked #1 from Owatonna at 182# 5-2.

That could very well be his last loss in HS. His dad is a big guy, could definitely see him at 97 in the future. Just needs to get taller. If not, he'll be an absolute hammer at 174-197.

I'm sure nobody has mentioned this kid, since he isn't really known yet nationally. I just had the opportunity to watch him wrestle last weekend at the sectional tournament and this weekend at the IL state tournament and couldn't have been more impressed. I think he is a kid to keep an eye on. In 18 years involved in the sport (8 competing, 10 coaching) I've never seen anyone attack at the rate he does at his age. He has a never ending gas tank as well. I will try to find some video links to post.

Fabian Lopez - Freshman 120lbs - Dekalb High School, IL

Lopez lost in the finals by TF 16-1, is that correct? Only a Freshman but sounds like he has got a lot of work to do yet before he starts getting on anyone's radar.

That score is not correct. I believe the final was TF 19-3, not that is makes a difference if you just look at final scores and assume it wasn't close. You would need to have actually watched the kid wrestle to see why I mentioned him, as I very rarely would risk credibility on here if I didn't really believe this kid was a diamond in the rough.

The score was not indicative of the match and his opponent (Mich'ael McGee, #4 nationally on Intermat) is a rather unorthodox wrestler who scores points in bunches. What impressed me was the attack rate, way he strings together combinations, the way he adapted during his matches, scrambling ability, etc... This kid has all the tools college coaches drool over.

I assume Schriever will continue to grow and develop. I know he has won everything nationally except worlds, which he chose not to go to. More decorated than any Iowa freshman since ???? Hopefully he can grow into a full sized 113 next year and maybe give Bennett or Biscoglia a run if they don't go up.

Oh I don't doubt what you are saying one bit as you will undoubtedly see him wrestle way more than I ever will, just pointed out that he is only a Freshman and does have a ways to go against the top competition as of now. If he works and attacks the way you say he does everyone may know of him come next year or maybe even sooner if he does well at Nationals if he goes that route.

I know Kemerer is an outstanding student. I recall him looking at schools like Stanford and Lehigh because his grades were really good

Thanks for posting. A lot of readers here might enjoy knowing what weights some of these young men were at.
