With Iowa sitting at 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 10.....what are you predicting the rest of the way?

My thought is that the games @ Penn St and @ Purdue will likely be the most difficult. I see them going 4-2 the rest of the way.

Maryland
@ Penn St
@ Purdue
Northwestern
@ Illinois
Nebraska

Agree ... 4-2 ... I don't see us beating PSU (even with its loss to MSU) ... Purdue makes me nervous ... If Iowa plays like it did against Indiana we should win that game ... But I won't be shocked if we lose it ... I think we get everyone else on the schedule ...

Sounds about right. We could go 2-4 too. NW actually is leading the West right now and always gives us fits, and even Nebraska is going to have nearly a full season of a new system under its belt and will be much improved. That stuff always takes time to adjust to. The only gimme is Illinois.

If Iowa doesn't beat itself with mistakes (Wisconsin), the only kind of team which can beat it is one with excellent linebackers who can cover the tight-ends, combined with a penetrating D-Line which can get to Stanley. Double-team the TE's and the receivers will make plays. And, if those linebackers do chase the TE's, who's going to stop Toren or Ivory catching a flair or wheel route?

Brian has this offense humming and the personnel to do it, dare I say it, almost Patriots style.

Throw in a very good defense, and a dangerous return man, and it makes for a tough team to beat.

5-1 the rest of the way. The loss being to either Penn State or Purdue, with a costly mistake or two being the difference.

Wisconsin loses 2 more, and NW loses to us, and someone else. Then it's a trip to Indy. I actually hope it's Ohio State over Michigan, as Michigan has the better defense.

I'm going with 4-2 (PSU/Purdue), but 3-3 is the worst it could be I think (NW).

6-0. Penn St. ain't what they were last year on O, and our O is better... even without Wadley. Purdue and NW scare me, for sure, but we are more balanced on both sides of the ball. If Wisconsin drops one, book Indy!

I disagree on Purdue. It's just a feeling, but I believe Iowa is going to thump them badly and BF will never take his foot off the gas after that showing last year, which to me, was even worse than our showing against Wisconsin. We had all sorts of protection breakdowns last year that we seem to have cleared up this year, so Stanley will have time to pick them apart and get the ball down the field. We put no pressure on their QB, but I believe our pass rush is significantly better this year, so we will not let their QB stand back there all day. And I hope for crying out loud that we cover fade routes a little better than we did last year. We made their one receiver look like a first round draft choice. And I think our D will play 'pissed off'.

It's NW that worries me more than Purdue, but I still think we'll go undefeated the rest of the way. Win the one's we'll be favored in and pull the upset in Happy Valley. Nothing to it. :)

Methinks Iowa has a good chance to run the table. This just has the feel of one of those years. Think of 2002 with parts of 2009. You got the boneheaded gift to a rival in September and shades of the Rick Six with some Stanley throws.

Oh ye have little faith.

I am only concerned with us playing at Penn State and at Purdue. Northwestern will lose by 2 td's to us. They have no running game.
PSU has Sanders and McSorley and Purdue has a hot Blough at qb and some good speed at skill positions.
Hopefully if we don't win both we can split these 2 games. The rest ofy the games should be easy wins. We'll finish 10-2 or 9-3 .

I believe that Iowa wins out. The offense is clicking- with Stanley showing great touch on the deep passes. The running game is looking solid and benefits from the ability of the two tight ends. Speaking of the two tight ends, no one in the B1G can match up with these two studs. The defense has developed depth, out of necessity, and Coach Ferentz seems to get his teams to play better as the season progresses. Of course, I will hedge my beliefs on whether Iowa experiences any major injuries then all predictions of them winning out are off.

The offense is better then I thought. If they can stay healthy I am adjusting my prediction from 8-4 to 9-3. Penn state will be tough and where is that surprise loss? Purdue or northwestern ?

This kind of thing could happen and would be a wild ride. Glad to be in the mix.

Gotta win this week---and I trust the coaches to keep them on that focus. If they want the trip to PSU to matter they have to get it done. If they can do that and win in Happy Valley all bets are off. These next two games will dictate the season.

My heart says they win out...

But we're all nervous they lose to a team they shouldn't. I hoped MN would be a blowout but I thought it would be close. It wasn't close. I thought Indiana would be close and just hoped they somehow won... they won big. This team has something... but I'll still be nervous Saturday, and every Sat after that...

I'm as optimistic about this team as anyone, but remember what happened last year after we looked so terrific vs Ohio St.
