They beat OSU in walkoff fashion today with a 2-out Bottom 7th 2-run HR to win 3-2.

Iowa avoids a 30 loss regular season, so good for them to finish the year on a high note.

Good for the girls and great game --

Men doing great too on BTN TV 9- 1 5th inning

Bad season with next year looking even worse due to a lack of pitching.

Really no way to sugar coat it. Just a disappointing season with some big question marks moving forward. I know Looper said in her post-game comments that there are a lot of positives to build on. I know that is coach speak, but I'm personally not seeing many if any. Hopefully the incoming freshman can fill some holes. Pitching will be interesting next year. Starkenburg will have to step up her game quite a bit. She has to be a contributor.

Here's hoping Shayla finds her groove in 2015 and/or the incoming freshman is a stud.
But it really won't matter if the hitting doesn't pick up. We scored none or one run in almost HALF our games this year!
And two of our four best hitters are gone.

I think after this year you have to shake it up somehow. Either bring in some transfers or make some staff changes.
Next year we've got only one senior and an underwhelming junior and sophomore class.

I don't see that Starkenburg is a B10-level #1 pitcher, and we'll have no offense other than Blank. Could very well be us and MSU duking it out for 11th place next season. Extra-frustrating when you consider that the coaches at Minnesota & Wisconsin came into the league at the same time as Looper, and those programs were both in worse shape.

The incoming pitcher had better be very good for us to have a better season next year. The two we have are not #1 caliber for the BIG or any other major conference. I don't know what to say about the hitting except it may even be worse than the pitching. Our coach seems oblivious to what happened this year based on her comments. It sounds like she doesn't realize how bad we were and she doesn't understand we have huge needs to fill to even get close to respectable in the near future.

What's the deal with Shayla? She was so dominant in HS thought she's have more success.

She redshirted last year. This year she had some OK outings, but not what I was hoping for. She will need to start drastic improvement beginning next year.

I agree, expect more. The other freshman pitchers did pretty well and Minnesota and Michigan. I wouldn't expect Minnesota HS softball to be that much better then Iowa HS softball.
