Next year's showdown in Kinnick will be huge. Will Iowa be a Top 25 team entering 2020?
I would say Top 25 to Top 30.
Whether it was 1978, 1998, 2002, 2012 or 2014, the Cyclones have often found Kinnick the place to end or continue a win streak.
The last win in Ames was 2011 for them. The 18-17 win by Iowa was sweet.
Matt Campbell is a good coach, much like PJ Fleck. I have to say I like Lovie Smith's work at Illinois right now. We can say same for Tom Allen at IU.
The Big Ten has questions for 2020. There will be a boat load of talent heading to the NFL or some other career, as we see typically each year.
Penn State's James Franklin likely returns the best roster not having a list to compare. All 3 Top 3 programs have their QB back, as does Minnesota, Illinois and Indiana.
Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State will have a new signal caller.
Scott Frost and Jeff Brohm are coming off 5-7 and 4-8 seasons, respectively.
They may be some of the stronger programs themselves for their record, but TCU likely gets nod over Huskers.
Pat Fitzgerald was 1-8 in the Big Ten, after 8-1 in 2018. Oh boy.
Back to Iowa State. They have some talent back and plenty of players departing, which was the case at LT for the Notre Dame game.
As we know, line play is essential to a good football team, along with a QB, and special teams.
Oh, having speed and playmakers is important too, but ISU, Nebraska and Purdue need both.
