Iowa State Men's Basketball

Not going to lie, just watching people play with energy and play hard was borderline erotic last night. Feels like it's been forever since I've seen it. Gonna lose a lot this year, but if they can keep their heads up and keep playing this hard I think ISU fans will be happy this year.
Here's my concern if I'm an ISU fan. Looking at their roster and who played last night. Started 2 Srs, 2 Jrs and a freshman. The bench consisted of 2 Srs and 2 Jrs who played last night. It's one thing to be bad and playing a lot of younger guys where you reap the rewards a few years later. But this team is not expected to do much and worst of all is full of upperclassman.

Probably will be next year again too. Im assuming TJ will abuse the portal during his ISU tenure. Not saying it's a bad thing, but I assume that will be the approach every year.

Some posters on this board are so obsessed with some fella named CyTwins he has to be the best troll on the internet.
CyTwit is the leader of the isu fan base. What he spews is what clowns fans far and wide regurgitate as fact and their own version of reality. It is like the train wreck or car crash you can’t help but looking at.

CyTwit is what makes isu, isu. He should be celebrated.

This program needs to get back on it's feet. I mean the team last year might have been the worst P5 team in decades, bar none.

As for the guys on the team, everyone is expected back next year taking advantage of the COVID year so even those seniors will be back next season. I don't think it was realistic to hire a guy in late spring like TJ and expect him to sign 9 high school guys. That just isn't possible. I do expect them to start bringing along the younger guards for sure as time goes on here, I like the two high school guards they have signed for next season. Getting some bigs in will be a huge priority because while this team isn't great the frontcourt is where the real struggles are going to be.

He'll use it to fill needs but ultimately I don't think that's how the new staff wants to build the program. They'll absolutely need a HS big and a transfer big for next season though.

Well, Prohm took the bar for ISU MBB, rented an excavator, dug a massive hole, went so deep in that hole the the program got the bends and perished, and left that bar down there. I agree it's not a hard bar to clear. But I've watched every game of ISU basketball the last two years and literally that is the most energy, intensity, and best ball movement I've seen in that time by a mile.
I seem to remember not too long ago when Clown fans were touting Prohm as the next greatest thing to sliced bread and that he had already clearly passed McCaffery with his long list of accomplishments. What a dramatic fall from grace!

Yep it is rinse and repeat with clown fans. No matter who they hire it is better than anything Iowa has ever had. Of course they paid $5m for Prohm to not coach isu and then another $5m to buyout TJ from UNLV. Reality check, this just in, for that $10m isu now has a coach that has NEVER IN HIS LIFE WON A SINGLE NCAA TOURNAMENT GAME AS A HEAD COACH.

Yikes as CyTwit would say .

Well, to be fair, it looked good at the start. He also made a Sweet 16 and won two conference tournaments both all of which Fran has yet to do. It also ended up that he was a pretty bad coach that buried the program. Just goes to show you how important talent is.

For the record this isn't a bag on Fran post. I'm not a fan of the guy for a lot of reasons, but the guy is remarkably consistent at putting good teams on the floor and he has gotten the absolute maximum out of the talent he's recruited and that's great coaching.

and now isu has a coach with ZERO NCAA TOURNAMENT WINS.

Or the other way of looking at it is he can turn the roster over faster for talent upgrade. They signed three HS kids today for 2022.

All of which were ranked 3*s. Of course they will tell us that their 3*s are so much better than our 3*s.
That wasn’t my point. I was simply responding to a post they would be upper class laden by pointing out the recruiting class was three HS recruits.

isu paying $10m to get a coach with ZERO NCAA TOURNAMENT WINS proves that crybaby Jamie Pollard is a bonafide financial genius.

One of them is a four-star. At least two of the three were offered by Iowa. Don't know if Fran offered the Ames point guard or not.

and the leader of the isu fan base CyTwit said King sucked right up until he committed to isu.

Yikes

Oregon State looked really bad. Iowa State didn't even play that well. I'm shocked how bad Oregon State looked.
I'm not buying Final Four tickets, but I've been very pleasantly surprised with what I've seen so far. The opponents were not elite, but neither were they chopped liver. Oregon State is picked for the upper division of the Pac-12, and Kennesaw State, despite playing without its best guy, took Creighton to the wire.

I really like the energy and the defense I'm seeing, and Condit looks like he's finally living up to the promise we saw as a freshman.

They weren’t worldbeaters and didn’t shoot that well, but the defensive pressure certainly seemed to impact them. How many football teams said their offense had an off day after playing the Hawk defense?

Conditt is averaging 6.5 ppg and 3.5 rpg. How is that living up to any kind of promise?
