Iowa tops in another national ranking

This seems like low hanging fruit for politicians. Is the puppy mill lobby really that powerful?
Not specifically puppy mills, but Kim and the legislature don't want any interference in animal production industries. They will protect these deplorable breeders in order to protect large scale protein producers in Iowa.

This. It isn't about the puppy mills, it's about animal agriculture. That's why we have 7x as many hogs as people in Iowa..which also explains our s***ty water. All those hogs produce waste, which combines with field run off to pollute our water.

The puppy mills are just a side benefit of not regulating any animal.

It's a broad mix. Riverside, Decorah area, Pella...
Britt.

Jaks puppies (the mill) is owned by the same group of people who also run a nonprofit Hobo K9 that “rescues” the dogs from Jaks and then sells them to get around state and local laws. They’ve been shut down and fined at least once in the past but it a group of friends that run the whole thing so they just change ownership and board members of the nonprofit.

We will see how far Goldy’s Law goes. It could be included in the Farm Bill, but my guess is it is forced into separate legislation by people like Breadbags, MMM and News Barbie. It would allow for more monitoring and fines.
