With Purdue on the horizon I looked at their lineup of probable starters and obviously the Hawks should roll, but the Boilermakers can test Iowa at some weights, giving us a better look at where we are at with some guys.

I'd be more than happy to eat crow (I was wrong last year also). Just don't see Meyer AA'ing this year. He looked great at Grapple after getting tossed on his head. However, we all saw last year (even joked about in many pbp threads) that he didn't do anything in the first period and usually was down and he had them "right where he wanted them." He know doubt has it in him. He didn't beat cupcakes on the backside last year. He is just so confusing from a fan perspective.

Not quite the answer to your question, but I remember back in 2008 at the Journeymen Sprawl & Brawl, non-D-1 Upper Iowa beat D-1 Wagner 60-0...perhaps unsurprisingly, Wagner dropped the sport after the season.

He hasn't been wrestling well but his likely Purdue opponent Peter Andreotti is a 165 lber wrestling up a weight. He's a sophomore with a career record of 9-11. He's been pinned 3 times this year and majored twice. True freshmen Drew Hughes of Michigan pinned him in :54. That was at 165 btw. (Hughes took a beating last year in Carver against the Bull.) Andreotti also got pinned by Austin Dewey of Boise St and majored by Trace Engelkes (who?) of Northern Illinois.

With all that I felt comfortable, even with as underwhelming as Meyer has been thus far he will still manage to win by at least 8.

I remember back in the day beating The Ohio State by 50 some points, I believe they were blanked. This was probably late '70's.. well a very quick look I know it's not 60 but it's a big ten opponent.

With our talent, I was really surprised that we didn't get a fall by at least Gilman, if not a couple others. We need to be more like PSU...our studs need to get falls or TFs when wrestling against unranked opponents...

Right now there's no special weighting for previous head-to-head matchups. I need to add that in...
