Iowa Volleyball Must Vacate Two Years Of Wins, One Year Probation

Kudos to the administration for not trying to hide anything and accepting the verdict.

This story still doesn't make much sense. The player transfers in, gets $2000 plus the money she was paid to work the volleyball camps. Then plays the rest of her playing career and waits to report this until she graduates?

Taylor Louis, Kelsey O’Neill, and Ashley Smith are the 3 that transferred in that year. Smith was a defensive specialist and they rarely get scholarship money. Based on the timeline of events, and the fact that it was 2 years later that it was reported, Taylor Louis looks more likely. O'Neill was only on campus for 1 year (but I suppose could have come back to report it).

Just doesn't make sense though. Why would you turn someone in who helped you?

The player (whoever it was) is just as guilty. Waiting until after your playing career is over to come forward means you still got to play, and graduate with your scholarship (however much it may have been).

But yes - why come forward at all? Guess bad blood developed.

My point is this, and what Bond did was absolutely wrong according to the rules. I almost guarantee KU and Duke basketball see a punishment if any far less from this.

It's simply amazing how this worked, granted I don't know all the details and how long it actually took. A player said they got paid, the HEAD coach was suspended and then fired, and sanctions were placed on the team / University. I guess it goes to show you what the NCAA thinks of volleyball and U of I. Players in other sports admit they get paid and other than a few articles and a black eye for the school for a short while nothing happens, and rarely does a head coach get any punishment. It makes you wonder if Bond thought he could get away with it or what the thought process was, no bag man or ast coach to take the fall??

Bond literally handed the athlete an envelope of cash. Pretty sure any coach who's given money to an athlete first-hand like that has been fired. It's fair Iowa had to vacate those wins - the athlete was ineligible. The punishment otherwise is minimal. Good riddance to bad rubbish. The program is in good hands under Vicky Brown!

Apparently BTN did not get the memo as right at this moment it is showing the Iowa volleyball "win" against Wisconsin in 2018.
