Iowa could very well win 9 out of 10. 133 Laux has a chance of winning. 165 will be a good test for Gunther. Ranked a couple spots ahead of him. Top 15 ranked 285 will be too much for Holloway.

It's not a bad dual. Edinboro has ranked guys..
25-9
33-18
49-8
65-9
84-16
285-14

Would think they would be alittle higher ranked as a team then 24. I expect no clark and Iowa winning 8 matches. 33,41,49,65,97,&285 should be fun to watch.

I want Clark to rest and be as close to 100 as he can be, but I feel he needs more may time. Brands said it himself that he's looked sloppy against Nebby, OSU, Michigan, he even made mistakes against Minny. Double edged sword.

I don't know if Tom would have wrestled UNI either. He pulled them off the schedule a couple of years ago and their have long been rumors about a grudge between him and Schwab since Schwab left.

I was really looking forward to Missouri. I coach high school in Missouri so I would have had an all expenses paid trip to watch the hawks. I am working on converting my athletes to Hawkeye fans. Guess I'll have to wait until nationals.

Yeah i know the rumor and know the reason. Not the same thing at all. We would have wrestled them.

I don't have direct quotations from Tom or inside sources on the VT and UNI situations ,so my opinion is completely based on message board conjecture. That being said... I would lose a lot of respect for Brands if he is letting multiple personal vendettas get between his team and good competition. I think Iowa, UNI and Iowa State should all meet each other yearly with a traveling trophy of some kind (with a permanent spot for it in Carver since Iowa would never lose it). I also understand the frustration losing eligibility from Metcalf and the other VT transfers, but that is well in the past. You are punishing current wrestlers by hindering the competition they see and punishing fans who want to see marquee match ups. Too petty for my taste if this is indeed the reasoning.

I'm the opposite. Was hoping to attend the dual at Missouri this weekend.
Actually I was hoping for Pitt or Cleveland State, since those are only 60 mins away, but I figured that was a long shot.
I think the committee took into account that I have driven back to IC a lot for the Hawks, realized that there were no east coast meets this year and decided to reward me with something fairly close.

I would like to thank the committee for their consideration and even though I may have said some negative things about the National Duals since the format change from the UNI days, and yes, prior to just a few minutes ago thought the entire thing was BS, I have given it a lot of thought and now.....have reconsidered. What a great thing the National Duals are*

* only this year, and only this one event provided the location does not change I reserve the right to change my opinion immidiately following the dual

If the NWCA really wanted to promote the sport and have fan interest, why not UI and UNI. They did win the valley. But the best would just be to admit this doesnt work and quit beating a dead horse.

UNI declined to be a part of the event regardless of opponent.

I would hope so, but then why aren't we wrestling them yearly like before? If it's because of the personal issues, why would we wrestle them in this scenario?

Nobody is likely to know the answer, or at least be willing to share it, but of course it is in my mind.

Iowa wrestling in PA could be used as a recruiting type of event. It will clearly be a blowout, but having PA kids going to it, could make them become Iowa fans.

Mentioned this in another thread but:

I am not 100% sure, but when I was talking with Spencer yesterday I think he said he had sectionals this weekend (and then it's regionals, then state?). Just trying to go off memory, but with this being a Saturday dual I don't know if any recruits or prospective recruits will be able to come watch.

Good point, I guess we can shoot for junior high/elem kids :)

I wrote a few posts on this in the past, I was at the dual we had at Edinboro a few years ago and the place was packed with HS wrestling teams. HS buses took up a huge amount of the nearby parking and the gym was packed to standing room only. It reminded me of Iowa HS districts where the stands were full and people were lined up along the walls. It was a great atmosphere and a great advertisement for Iowa Wrestling.

At the time, though, you were ranked #1, early in the 13-14 season, before HS season got into full swing, and Edinboro had something for you. Score ended up 22-19. I really think there are too many things working against this one, not the least of which is this is the thick of PA post season, including all levels of wrestling.

Not going to happen. Dodging VT will not be received well by Pa. I can't see Iowa picking up a single fan, but may have lost the respect of thousands.

This might be the dumbest thing ever written over here, and that's saying something because jammenz is over here all the time. It is nice to know that you speak for the state of PA. It's also good to know that all of PA thinks alike and has, as a state, such a high moral standard.

As for all this dodging talk, you obviously read a lot of BWI, and believe the small group of paranoid delusional posters that hate Iowa first and then try and create a narrative that supports their theory. Iowa wrestled the #1 team, the #2 team, we are the #3 team, we wrestled the #4 team and wrestled the #5 team, plus wrestled the #12, #13, #15 and #19 ranked teams. What a bunch of dodgers!

Where do you stand on a university taking a year of eligibility away from a kid who was promised that would not happen, more importantly I should be asking you what the state of PA thinks about that?

You should not try and speak for PA, I have lived in or near PA for many years, it's a great state and the last time we all got together we agreed that you were a tool and should not be speaking for us.

Oh, darn. ... so so close to winning people like you? On a duel that matters, what? Keep wishing and shitting.... you will not only fill up a hand, you will be covered in it in no time.

Sectionals for Spencer are next weekend. So he should have off this weekend and would be able to attend

No wonder Sanderson threw his 2 cents in on Twitter. Probably mad they are having a dual in his backyard. Cause it can't be about the integrity of the national duals since he has skipped more than he has went to.
