Until now i never knew carl was in charge of the nwca. Also never knew he pulled tom into his new idea. It does appear, however, that when he wants to boycott the duels it's not a problem but when another team's duel's pairing might possibly help his cause he has the right to comment.
Sucks for Terry, Nelson should meet up with Cayd Lara or Zane Mulder in the finals....

This is the same thing as the ACC/B1G challenge that they have in basketball preseason except its B1G against everybody else. From a team standpoint, it's just another dual if you are not in the championship because...who cares if we beat Edinboro or Vag Tech?

You really have no idea what was agreed to, you like many others, are taking some gossip and rumor, adding in your own opinion and coming up with your own "facts". You want to share your opinion, good, that's what this forum is for, many people give honest opinions here that I don't agree with and that's fine, but when they say these things as if they are fact, I have a problem with it. Where was the meeting where Tom agreed to this? When was it? Who was there? Who brought it up? Who objected or express concerns? Who proposed what and what did Tom say exactly? If you know, then it's fact, if you don't then you are creating facts. It does not matter that Cael tweeted something because that does not answer any of the questions above.

There is also inside info in this article that claims there was no demand or mention from Iowa on who it wrestled, something SHP has stated many times very clearly. Yet the haters chose to ignore the actual facts and create there own.
Now we come in to this year and not only do we still feel burnt by the way our transfers were treated, we have a coach that goes out of his way to bash our program. Should we help his program out by wrestling his team? Do we say, "we won't wrestle his team? I don't know what happened this year yet and neither do you. I don't care one way or another actually because I am happy not to wrestle VT until they apologize for lying to our transfers, which they did and you don't seem too concerned about that being reneged.
And you wrestled for him when? Think for one "logical" second! How would you feel if you were a potential NCAA champion caliber wrestler and you had been lied to and deprived of a full year of eligibility? Would your coach saying that is not acceptable and we will not forget it be thinking of you and what was taken away? If you want to try and bad mouth someone at least try to be somewhat real.

You want to know the truth? The vast majority of fans hardly have a clue about this event, let alone back channel bs regarding it. Most people are busy living life to obsess about gossip on social media and wrestling forums. Only the super fans and most of their minds are made up on who's side they are on on something like this. Brands was called a chicken last year by Dresser then proceeded to land his best recruiting class in years, with I am sure Cael, Dresser, Ryan ... all talking crap about them to overlapping recruits.

When Tom left to Iowa, four of his guys left with him. Virginia Tech, unlike most of the wrestling world, would not grant them releases which cost guys like Metcalf and Jay Borschel a season and Iowa a potential natty.
Sanderson should be the last guy around wanting people exposing broken policy.
I'm with you...why in the world would we (the number 3 or 4 team in the nation) be pitted against Edin? Anyone know how this selection process occurred? I looked at that NWCA website and couldn't see any rationale, so I guess I'm thinking WTF? Makes no sense to me. Like others, I think we should be taking on VT...it's what the fans want.

Speak for yourself because I believe there are thousands of Iowa fans that don't our team heading to Vag Tech. Probably more fans than the entire ACC fanbase.

The duals at UNI were awesome. a weekend of non stop great wrestling from all divisions. Pure heaven for a wrestling junkie.
And I think there are thousands of fans like myself who don't give a rats ass about the pissing contest...we just want to see 10 pissed off wrestlers go to VA Tech and beat them down. So please...you speak for YOURSELF...
Then you don't know the reality of the situation. What should have happened and what dresser made sure did happen.
As you should...especially since you obviously know very little of the true and entire situation.
What this fan wants is a healthy team going in to Big10's. We already have Stoll out and Clark injured with Turk hurt before the season. Me personally, I place emphasis on 3 parts of the season; regular season dual meets, Big10's and Nationals. The national dual means nothing to me. If we didn't wrestle in the Big 10 conference, and didn't get to face the best teams all season long, maybe the National Duals would mean something, but that's not the case.
Regular season is over, while I love to see our guys go one more time ( as I will when I reluctantly drive the short distance to Edinboro), at some point the regular season ends and our guys need to be focused on their individual titles. #1 vs #2, I can roll with that (if they do that every year, which they don't), beyond that, get healthy and let 'em loose.
And I understand that logic as well. And if we're all buying into that logic (and I could easily buy into this), then let's do away with the duals and go right to the B10s and NCAAs. But I don't like this half-assed thing this has become. Just my humble opinion...
I know as much as what's in the news...I read it all last year and then read it all again last week and this week. It is what it is...a big major pissing contest. And I get the background and blah, blah, blah...but if we're going to do this NWCA duals thing right, let's do it right. And if we're not, then let's do away with it. I would rather watch us get our asses handed to us by whoever, knowing that we went up against the best competition, than to wrestle lesser competition because of pissing contests. Again, let's either do it right or skip the duals and just go into the B10s and NCAAs. That's my only point...I want to see good competition.
