This is not the dual we had anticipated this fall as Michigan is redshirting a big part of their lineup this year. Iowa will cruise, but here’s my quick preview/prediction for the dual.
125: Gilman MD Assad 4-0 Iowa
Gilman is a man on a mission and Assad isn’t going to slow him down. Gilman puts on another clinic, this time in Ann Arbor.
133: Clark Dec Micic 7-0 Iowa
I personally think we see Clark this weekend. Just not sure if we see him against Mich or wait until MSU. If so, this will be a good one to come back on with Micic. But Clark is Clark and wins comfortably, just shy of a major. If Laux goes, decision Micic.
141: Carton Dec Profaci 10-0 Iowa
I love Carton’s attitude on the mat. He wins comfortably.
149: Sorenson MD Hall 14-0 Iowa
Sorenson will do what he always does. Stay in good position and not give up any stupid points. Puts it on Hall with a major.
157: Kemerer Dec Murphy 17-0 Iowa
Not sure what it is but I think this would be a better match if this was Murphy from 2015. Murphy seems to have declined a bit, but he’s still a solid wrestler. Kemerer gets it done yet again.
165: Massa TF Gunther 17-5 Iowa
This one gets out of hand…early. Massa cruises here. With that said I think he would beat Marinelli as well, but Marinelli could hold it to a decision.
174: Meyer Dec Amine 20-5 Iowa
This has potential to be a good match, but could also become a snoozer. Either way, I don’t see Meyer losing or coming away with more than a decision. Solid win though.
184: Brooks TF Battaglia 25-5 Iowa
There will be a lot of tilts coming from Sammy here. Just a matter of whether he gets the pin or the tech.
197: Wilcke Dec Striggow 28-5 Iowa
This could be a competitive match. I don’t see Wilcke losing to Striggow but I also don’t see him blowing the doors off him either. Wilcke in a decision.

Pain. Lots and lots of pain. Stoll takedown, turn, pin.
