my take.

25 dec Gilman. I was thinking possible major, but thats gonna be really hard against a talent like Suriano 3-0

33- If Cortez I say dec Clark, if Carpenter I say major Clark. Surprised no one has talked about the back points I feel Clark had on Brock with that bar/half. 6-0

41- Carton has been wrestling well and keeing it close with good AA threat wrestlers, but that really doesn't mean anything until he beats one of them. JG is hit and miss, he wrestled great last year in Carver during BIG'S. Think Carton wins here 9-0

49- Major Zain, Hopefully his loss to Collica was a wake up call and he can close the gap on Zain and keep it to a decision. I still think BS beats Collica the next time. People say BS is a boring wrestler, Collica did absolutly nada that match. 9-4

57- dec Nolf possible major. Kemmerer is fantastic, but Nolf is an animal. 9-7

65- No clue who goes for Iowa here. If Gunther goes I'll say dec Cenzo, if St John I say major, But after getting pinned and if Gunther can't go I think we see Moody here and he gets majored. 9-11

74- if Morelli I give dec Meyer, if Shakur goes i'll give him the decision. I think Morelli gets the nod 12-11

84- Oh Man, dec Nickal and it pains me. Someone is going to there back in this match. 12-14.

97 dec Mccutcheon 12-17

285- I REALLY hope Stoll is ok and can go here. If so I give him the decision. If Holloway I say pin Nevills 15-17 sadly for PSU.

Here is the Wrestlestats' prediction.

125: Gilman dec Suriano 9-4
133: Clark dec Cortez 8-3
141: Gulibon dec Carton 7-5
149: Retherford dec Sorensen 4-2
157: Nolf dec Kemerer 10-5
165: Joseph Mdec Gunther 16-5
174: Meyer dec Morelli 8-4
184: Nickal dec Brooks 8-6
194: McCutcheon dec Wilcke 9-2
HWT: Nevills dec Stoll 6-3

PSU 22 Iowa 9

* I can't disagree too much. I think Kemerer likely keeps it closer than 10-5 unless he takes desperation shots in the third or gets turned. I see that being a 6-3 type match.

* I think Carton could get Gulibon. Gulibon is streaky. He got dominated pretty bad recently by McCrystal. Carton is a gamer. The 7-5 prediction is probably a good one, I'm just not sure which one gets 7.

* The way Brooks is wrestling, I wouldn't count him out against Nickal. It depends on which Brooks we see. The one that first saw Jackson at Midlands probably loses by 3 or 4 points. The one from this weekend makes it a close one.

* Stoll will have a tough match with Nevills but I think a 3 point spread is generous against a guy that lost to Tanner Hall only 2-1 in his first action back from injury.

The nice thing is winning this dual isn't unreasonable. If we can pull off 2-3 of the Carton, Brooks, Stoll matches we have a real shot. Probably would need bonus points somewhere at either 125 or 133.

This is how I see it. I think we win 4 matches.

125: Gilman dec Suriano 5-2
133: Clark dec Cortez 5-3
141: Carton dec Gulibon 7-6
149: Retherford dec Sorensen 10-4
157: Nolf dec Kemerer 10-6
165: Joseph dec Gunther 12-5
174: Meyer dec Morelli 6-4
184: Nickal dec Brooks 10-6
194: McCutcheon dec Wilcke 7-2
HWT: Nevills dec Stoll 4-1

25 Gilman
Close to a major but time runs out
3-0 Hawks

33 Clark
Don't think they roll out Cortez to face Clark right away even if healthy. Clark by pin over backup.
9-0 Hawks

41 Carton
Carton widens the gap in the 3rd and times runs out just as everyone is thinking major.
12-0 Hawks

49 Retherford
No indication this year that Sorenson has improved from last years finals appearance. Retherford with the major, but just barely. (with riding time)
12-4 Hawks

57 Nolf
Familiarity may keep it close, but Nolf is just too athletic and varied in attacks. Kemmerer guts it out to prevent the major in the 3rd. Crowd appreciates the effort from Kemerer to keep the bonus point off the board.
12-7 Hawks

65 Joseph
Vincenzo is too explosive and active on his feet for Gunther. Joseph catches Gunther in a bad situation and sticks him or (Moody or St John)
13-12 Lions

74 Meyer
Morelli gets up early. Alex barely comes back in the 3rd. Wins by a point.
15-13 Hawks

84 Brooks
Toss up. Biased pick. Nickal opened my eyes against Dudley. I still think Brooks can bang with Bo. Think it will take a wild exchange where Brooks ends up on top. Either way if Brooks wins, it will be decision.
18-13 Hawks

97 McCutcheon
This one will be closer than a lot of people think. Both undersized 97ers going at it. Cash scores a TD early, but McCutcheon is too experienced and wins the decision.
18-16 Hawks

Hwy Nevilles
This was a toss up before Stoll looked like he got hurt at Okst. Nevells has slowly been looking like the guy everyone hyped him up to be prior to injury. He's an athletic heavy that can roll around pretty good. Nevilles wins this by decision if Stoll is healthy.
If Stoll is less than 70% Nevilles wins by tech or pin.

19-18 Lions (with a slight Iowa bias)
Could get worse. Won't be much better scenario.

125- Gilman will try to force it and will be down 5-1 end of 1st period. He will have no answer for Nicks defense and desperation will set in and the overdraft charges will begin.

133- Corey really impressed me with his grit against Brock. Pin or major here

141-love me some jimmy but Carton by decision

149-zain pin

157-Jason will pin Kemmerer first period because he likes him

165- Cenzo by fall

174- Meyer over geno in a close one If it's rasheed gotta go with rasheed by fall

184-Bo by fall

197-cutch by decision

285-nevills won't be pushed around. major

See a "Slight bias" in some of these posts , both directions. Think Iowa wins 125-141 , Penn State takes the rest. One out of Zain , Nolf, and Nickal , 1 pin, 1 Tech , 1 Maj. I'm very interested in Heavy and 125. Should be fun to watch.

125- Gilman by Dec. Suriano is a good fresh but has slipped by guys Gilman majors.
133- Clark by major to fall if Carpenter goes.
141- Toss up, Carton needs to get the job done.
149- Major for PSU
157- Major Nolf, could be more.
165- Major PSU.
174- Meyer shows up and get 3.
184- PSU Dec. Sammy needs to stay out of pin trouble.
197- PSU Dec.
285- PSU dec. after the OSU match.

125 - Gilman major 4-0
133 - Clark major 8-0
141 - Topher dec 11-0
149 - Zain major 11-4
157 - Nolf dec 11-7
165 - Joseph tech fall (St John) 11-12
174 - Geno dec 11-15
184 - Brooks dec 14-15
197 - McCutcheon dec 14-18
HWT - Neville Pin (No Stoll - hope I am wrong and it's not reinjuied)
14-24

A few real close ones, injuries suck, but being honest even with our healthy starting lineup I think PSU is to solid in too many areas. And yeah I picked a few upsets our way.. why wouldn't I? It is hard enough putting a crap score up.

The just-released (about three hours ago) Dual Impact Index agrees wholeheartedly with you on wins-losses, but it has all decisions throughout the dual (the Index is pretty hard on bonus points for duals).

Neutral view (or guess)

125 - Gilman major 4-0
133 - Clark tech 9-0
141 - Carton dec 12-0
149 - Zain major 12-4
157 - Nolf major 12-8
165 - Joseph tech fall 12-13
174 - Meyer dec 15-13
184 - Nickal dec 15-16
197 - McCutcheon dec 15-19
HWT - Neville major-unless Stall gets a lot of pushing done, and whoever the ref in lets him do it again. 15-23

Gilman won't major Suriano. Stallaloutas has mentored Suriano. Gilman will win even with Suriano trying not to lose. This will be the most interesting match of the day for both sides. I also like the 157 match. But Nolf is too good for Kemerer to win that one.

125 - Gilman MD , possible pin as Suriano foolishly tried to fight off the 5th take down and gets put on his back

133 - Clark PIN, pissed about OSU, he uses the extra shoulder bracing to aid his arm bar and gets the turn

141 - Carton MD, get's better every match , his win causes 5 new "hate" threads to be hatched on BWI about JG as 3 hawk posters are summarily banished for good measure.

149 - Sorenson Dec, BS finally starts believing in his offense and gets a take down on Zain, which leads to his Buster Douglas moment, now everyone knows, b/c BS cracked the code

157 - Kem Dec, after witnessing the results of 149, KemDawg feels the power and does what he does, attack. it's close, but the good guy wins by 1

165 - Gunther Dec, the kid just got ranked in the top 20, no way he loses this, he was resting up last weekend, he's ready to roll.

174 - Dec Geno, no matter how right things are going, no matter how positive the vibe, Meyer still does not trust his offense as much as some of us do, a shutout is crushed

184 - MDec Brooks, this kid believes in his offense and after exchanging throws that result in minimal damage, Brooks gets him to his back.

197 - Dec Wilke, when things are rolling your way, they just keep on rolling

Hwt - Pin Stoll, trailing 3-2 in the 3rd period Sam works the under hooks for a feet to back, knocking the wind out of NN and sticking him for the win!

I like yours much better. It would also mean that Stoll knee just gave out and he was unsure of it and did not injure it. I may have been a little negative after OSU. Our guys have to turn in their best to make it happen.

Yikes - negative Nellie here

I am most looking forward to the individual match ups at 25, 41, 49, 57, 84, and 97. I am not expecting to see the imperial march.
Gman by decision

Clark by TF if Cortez doesn't go.

Topher depending on the officials view of Jimmy's dry humping

BS LBD. We will find out what Brandon is made of. Is he going out there to close the gap from last years finals beating. Or is he going to back down from Zain? I want to see BS go out there to win.

Kemdawg LBD He will learn a lot from this match win or lose. I think it will be a close match due to how good MK is at getting to the legs. He will finish a couple of TD's and a win for the dawg would not shock me.

I think Moody gets the nod. I am saying Moody or Gunther here. St. John got put on his back. That opens the door for Moody to be our number 4 at this weight.

74- Meyer needs to take care of business and gain some confidence.

84- Brooks by dec It could go either way. Brooks needs to stay where he is good and out of where Penny (he's overpriced at 5 cents) wants to be.

97 Cash money takes out the guy who was lucky to get bounced by Penny. Being forced to move to 97 was the best thing to ever happen to him.

Hwt- Hoping Holloway can keep it from a major but I don't think he will. Maybe Stoll goes, but I would bet San Souci's bridge, Kwood's emoticons, Houndedhawk's negativity, Tarphawks' video of Brands kicking his butt, and my girlfriends annoying cat that he doesn't.

24-10 Penn State. Sadly.

Don't think this is going to be as easy for PSU as some do. The Natives will be restless at Carver and IMO Iowa's wrestlers, already with plenty of motivation, are going feed off of the crowd.

125: Gilman dec Suriano. Gilman is mostly a catch and release type to rack up bonus pts. Suriano is difficult to take down and not likely to run out of gas. Don't think bonus pts are likely here.
3-0 Iowa

133: Clark fall Carpenter. It will only be a matter of time before Clark sinks in the bars and pins Carpenter.
9-0 Iowa

141: Carton dec Gulibon. This one is a toss up but Carton has looked good, this is a match where the home crowd helps out and Carton wins a close one.
12-0 Iowa

149: Retherford dec Sorensen. I think this one looks more like the B1G finals than the NCAA finals.
12-3 Iowa

157: Nolf mdec Kemerer. Kemerer has been impressive but Nolf will pour it on late for the major.
12-7 Iowa

165: Joseph mdec St.John. Could be a tech or pin here but this is another match that the crowd helps whoever Iowa sends out to hold it to a major.
12-11 Iowa.

174: Meyer dec Morelli/Rasheed. Another toss up, think Meyer scores late and takes a close one.
15-11 Iowa

184: Nickal dec Brooks. Nickal a little to quick and slick for Brooks. Similar score to Nickal over Dudley.
15-14 Iowa

197: McCutcheon dec Wilcke. Giving this one to Cutch but its a match Iowa could steal. McCutch didn't look good against the freshman from Rutgers in his last match. Maybe lost some confidence after Nebraska?
15-17 PSU

285: Nevills dec Stoll. If Stoll is in fact injured and can't go I don't believe Iowa can win this dual. If he is relatively healthy this match could determine the dual. I wouldn't just write Stoll off after one bad match as some are doing. If it all comes down to this match the crowd will be at a fever pitch. I've got to take Nevills but I could see him taking a bad shot while trying to avoid a stall call on a push out, and Stoll getting a winning takedown.
15-20 PSU

In this scenario all it would take is a slight upset by Wilcke, or Stoll. Now I did give Iowa the toss ups at 41 and 74 because they are at home, and one or both of these matches could go the other way.

I'm a PSU fan and I'm worried. Wounded Hawks can be very dangerous, especially on their own turf.

Agree it will be closer than most seem to think. Iowa wins 125 and 133, the latter with 5 or 6 team points. At 141, I could see Carton winning. It's at CHA, and Jimmy is Jimmy, so something weird/dumb will likely happen to push that one Iowa's way. I think 174 is close to a toss-up, so Meyer winning at CHA is realistic. I like PSU in the other six, but Iowa could up a few after 174 and if something else weird happens after that point, well ...

I would like our chances with a 100% Stoll and Gunther. I am guessing we see Moody and Holloway. 141, 174, and 197 will need to win. Clark needs to get a pin. We aren't out of it if Stoll can't go, but our margin for error will be slim. I really hope Stoll and Gunther can go.
